Sustainable crops, prosperous farming

The idea of starting a business with SATY Rice Farms came from when Mr. Nguyen Thai Viet Huy - Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of SATY HOLDING Investment Joint Stock Company - participated in the Vietnam International Rice Festival 2023.

Vietnam is aiming to become a pioneer country in producing quality rice and reducing emissions associated with the project "Sustainable development of 1 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030".

"With the advantage of technology, we can support farmers in digital transformation, as well as apply smart devices to clean rice fields in particular and agriculture in general," said Mr. Huy.

SATY is an abbreviation of English, in which S is sustainable, A is agriculture, T is technology and Y stands for youth. SATY Rice Farms is a model that applies technology, smart devices, and comprehensive digital transformation solutions that have been practically deployed.

Products in SATY's agricultural digital transformation ecosystem currently include drones, automatic water level measuring devices in the alternating flooding and drying process, greenhouse gas emission measuring devices, and smart insect monitoring systems.

In addition, the model also helps rice-growing agricultural cooperatives to be provided with rice production processes, smart mechanization equipment, production capital, and agricultural product output. In particular, the MRV system on the field serves rice production to reduce emissions and automatically measure the level of emission reduction. From there, it aims at data to calculate the exact amount of carbon credits.

With a system that is reasonably priced, easy to install and use, and connects many things, SATY helps farmers apply smart technology to agricultural production to increase productivity, reduce costs, protect the environment and public health, and also anticipate the green consumption trend.

In addition, SATY users and customers have the opportunity to participate in the green transformation process in organic agriculture, enhancing product value.

We want to bring Vietnam's high-tech agricultural products and solutions to the market, facilitating the export of agricultural products and carbon credits. Thereby bringing sustainable income to farmers, contributing to the economy.

Mr. Nguyen Thai Viet Huy (Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of SATY HOLDING Investment Joint Stock Company)

Developing smart agricultural ecosystem

Sustainability and environmental friendliness are among the core values of SATY Rice Farms. The company uses recycled materials, saves resources, has low-emission production processes, and minimizes negative impacts on the ecosystem.

To create a competitive advantage, this start-up applies IoT (Internet of Things) and AI (artificial intelligence) technology in agricultural management. Thereby building a smart agricultural ecosystem, creating the potential to generate income from carbon credits.

Starting an agricultural business, the young CEO said that SATY had encountered many difficulties because each region had different farming practices, and the farmers' mentality was also different when applying the company's technology.

But he told me to follow the farmers to learn, go to the place to learn specifically, then gradually adjust my products and services. With constant efforts, although it has not been around for long, SATY has received many positive responses from the market.

Recently, SATY was selected by the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) for its water level monitoring sensor product, providing it to 7 high-quality, low-emission rice growing models of the ministry to deploy in the first crop. And the first harvest has just been completed, with quite good results.

In the immediate future, the company wants to accelerate the digital transformation process in the agricultural sector. The focus is on implementing a carbon rice growing model in the Mekong Delta from the 1 million hectare rice project. At the same time, it is implementing solutions to manage water pumps and electricity sources for irrigation.

In the future, this startup company hopes to develop a smart and sustainable agricultural ecosystem, become a pioneer in integrating advanced technology solutions into agricultural activities, and enhance international cooperation.

"We are testing and about to launch an app to help urban people and farmers invest in growing high-quality rice and reducing emissions. If we are lucky enough to generate revenue from selling carbon credits, all investors will share the profits," said Mr. Huy.
