The delegation included Mr. Pham Hung Tam, Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia, representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs (Ministry of Foreign Affairs ) and leaders of departments, branches and sectors of Hue City.
The trip aims to introduce the image and potential of Hue to localities in Australia, and at the same time promote the establishment of long-term and practical cooperative relations.

Strengthening cooperation in education , research and sustainable development
At the working session with the University of Tasmania, Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong introduced Hue University - one of the major training and research centers in Vietnam and proposed implementing cooperation programs such as exchanging lecturers and students; building joint research projects; joint training or dual degrees in the fields of marine science, aquaculture, climate change, and sustainable development.
Mr. Rufus Black, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Tasmania, expressed his desire to cooperate and is ready to welcome Hue students to study and bring Australian students to Hue to experience education and culture, as part of Australia's strategy to develop a team of young global leaders.
Strengthening relations between Hue and Hobart
Working with Ms. Anna Reynolds, Mayor of Hobart City - the two sides agreed that Hobart and Hue have great potential for cooperation in higher education, sustainable development, maritime, climate change, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchange. Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong emphasized the similarities between the two cities, and invited Ms. Reynolds to visit Hue and look forward to signing a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation.

At the meeting with Ms. Barbara Becker, Governor of Tasmania, the two sides assessed that there is still much room for cooperation not only in the fields of heritage and sustainable tourism but also in high-tech agriculture, education and training, and logistics. The Governor pledged to support Hue in connecting with businesses and agencies in Tasmania, while promoting the establishment of long-term cooperative relations with Hobart.
Working with Mr. Dennis Hendriks, Director of Development, Tasmania State Development Department, the two sides agreed to continue sharing information on development orientation and promote cooperation in education, culture, tourism, sustainable development, towards signing the Hue - Hobart Cooperation Memorandum.

At the Tasmanian Ministry of Science and Technology, Ms. Madeleine Ogilvi, Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Digital Economy said that the state has never had international cooperation at the state level with a foreign locality and wishes to build a friendly relationship with Hue, especially in conservation, science and technology, clean energy, sustainable development and climate change response. Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong invited the Minister and the Tasmanian art troupe to attend the Hue Festival 2026, and at the same time hoped to increase cultural, scientific and technological exchanges.
Business Connection
During the meeting with the Vietnam Business Association in Tasmania, Mr. Ho Nhut Tien, Chairman of the Association, introduced typical enterprises and expressed his desire to cooperate with Hue enterprises. Enterprises accompanying the delegation such as Saigon Hue Investment Joint Stock Company, LEC Group, Chan May Port, Kim Long Motor Hue, VietinBank Hue, etc. also introduced their strengths and sought cooperation opportunities with Australian partners.
After finishing the program in Tasmania, the delegation continued to move to Sydney (New South Wales) to participate in activities to promote Hue City and connect businesses within the framework of the Vietnam Local Promotion Program in Australia in 2025.
