During the implementation of the National Target Program 1719, Dong Hy district has increased resources, prioritized investment, and built rural transport infrastructure. The district determined that this is an important infrastructure foundation to help people have convenient transportation, to produce and trade goods, and to attract tourism development.
Ban Ten Hamlet, Van Lang Commune, located at an altitude of 1,200m above sea level, is considered a "heaven's gate", a highland hamlet with 140 households, 100% of whom are Mong ethnic people. In previous years, Ban Ten Hamlet was known as a place with many shortages and difficulties, such as the backward farming level of the people, production was mainly self-sufficient, essential infrastructure, especially difficult transportation, so the lives of the people here were miserable in every way, the poverty rate was still high.
In recent years, thanks to the special attention of the Party Committees, authorities, and mass organizations of Dong Hy district, and the efforts of the people, the appearance of Ban Ten has changed significantly, the infrastructure system has been fully and comprehensively invested, and flat roads have been opened to all villages. The main roads have been opened, and people have enthusiastically developed production and strived to become rich.
Standing on the newly built concrete road, Mr. Vuong Van Hao, Ban Ten hamlet shared that before, the road was just a small, muddy trail, making it extremely difficult to travel. People in the hamlet wanted to transport agricultural products, which was a problem. Mr. Hao smiled happily, now there is a new road running around the hamlet, cars and motorbikes can go all the way to their houses, connecting to the main road to go down to the commune, down to the district, helping to change the lives of people in the hamlet significantly.
Talking about the concrete road in Ban Ten hamlet, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyet, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Van Lang commune, confided that people in Ban Ten hamlet have little land for production. When building the road, many households had to lose a lot of land, some households lost thousands of square meters of land, some households had to move their whole house like Mr. Ly Van Sinh and Ngo Van Dinh... But when being propagandized, people realized that the new road would make traveling more convenient for economic development and for their children to go to school, so gradually people agreed and supported. They were willing to donate land and move their houses to create the most favorable conditions to help the construction unit speed up the road construction progress.
According to Ms. Nguyet, to gain the consensus of the people, propaganda work is extremely important. Van Lang commune has organized many campaigns, each campaign will have many different components such as the government, professional staff, the commune's mass mobilization bloc, and hamlet mass organizations, focusing on the role of the hamlet chief, Party cell secretary, head of the Front work committee, head of the Protestant group, and prestigious people in the hamlet.
In particular, the leaders of the District Party Committee, the People's Committee, and directly the District Chairman, regularly go to the locality to survey and mobilize the people. In addition, the locality also mobilizes mass organizations, construction units, and people to support households in leveling the ground, rebuilding house foundations, dismantling, and transporting, helping households stabilize their lives soon. Ms. Nguyet emphasized that now that there is a new road, the people are all excited and active in developing production and trading goods, and the appearance of Ban Ten hamlet has also changed significantly and become more spacious.
The main road is open…
Taking us around Ban Ten hamlet by car on the new road, Mr. Nguyen Quang Huy, Deputy Director of the Construction Investment Management Board (CMB) of Dong Hy district, introduced the road in detail. Mr. Huy said that the Ban Ten hamlet concrete road project, invested by the district CMB, is 2.3 km long, has a roadbed width of 5 m, a road surface width of 3.5 m and a system of sewers and drainage ditches. The total investment for the project is over 11.8 billion VND, from the capital source of the National Target Program 1719 in 2022.
The project is the desire of the people, so the entire construction area is donated by the people. Therefore, all members of the Construction Management Board try to promote the highest working spirit, regularly check and supervise the construction, ensure the progress and technical requirements of the project to not disappoint the expectations of the people.
In particular, according to Mr. Huy, in recent years, Dong Hy district has been very active in building Ban Ten hamlet into an attractive community, ecological and experiential tourism destination of the district. Having a road has contributed to promoting tourism development here.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Huy also informed that, besides the road of Ban Ten hamlet, from the capital of the National Target Program 1719, Dong Hy district also focused on building and renovating the road from Khe Hai hamlet to Van Khanh hamlet, with a total length of over 6.4 km with asphalt road structure, total cost of over 14.9 billion VND; upgrading the inter-commune road Cay Thi - Van Han with a length of over 5km, cost of over 7 billion VND....
Mr. Vu Quang Dung, Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Hy district said that investment in building rural transport infrastructure plays a big role in promoting socio-economic development and shortening regional gaps, so Dong Hy district pays great attention to perfecting the rural transport system in conjunction with implementing economic development tasks.
In order to create consensus among the people, the district publicly and transparently plans rural traffic development; does a good job of propaganda, mobilizing people to participate in building and supervising the construction of village roads and alleys...
According to statistics, from 2019 to present, the total capital investment in basic construction is 414,016 billion VND, of which investment in the transport sector is 170,127 billion VND. Dong Hy district invested, built, renovated, and upgraded 159.23 km of rural concrete roads; implemented new construction, renovation, and upgrading of key transport works...
"Up to now, the traffic infrastructure of Dong Hy district has gradually improved, 100% of the roads to the centers of communes and towns have been paved, meeting the travel and freight transport needs of the people, connecting regions, creating smoothness for mountainous localities to develop their economy and society", informed Chairman of Dong Hy District People's Committee Vu Quang Dung.
