On November 20, the White House launched Threads accounts for US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. Within an hour, Mr. Biden's account reached 2 million followers.

The White House, the First Lady and the Vice President's spouse also have Threads accounts.

The move comes after Musk last week called an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory “fact” on X. He also said some “Jewish communities” promote “anti-white” messages and views.

White House officials have repeatedly criticized Musk for his “anti-Semitic rhetoric.”

Several major advertisers, including Apple and Disney, have paused payments on X. Musk defended himself on November 19 but did not apologize or retract his statements.

Meta launched Threads in July to compete with X (the old Twitter). After acquiring Twitter, Musk made a series of sweeping changes to the “bluebird” that received a lot of criticism.

More than 30 million people signed up for Threads within hours. By mid-July, Threads had more than 100 million signups.

Analytics firm Apptopia estimates Threads had about 33 million daily active users in the US as of October.

Although Instagram head Adam Mosseri said Threads doesn't prioritize news and political discourse, a segment of Twitter users have turned to Threads to share and stay updated on news.

In a statement to CNBC, the White House shared that the preparation process for the Threads accounts took several weeks.

“We are committed to meeting people where they are. Since the beginning of our tenure, we have used traditional media, digital media, SMS programs and other innovative ways to reach Americans.”

(According to CNBC)

Elon Musk's 'slip of the tongue' could cause social network X to lose many large advertising orders . A series of large companies announced that they would suspend advertising on social network X after its owner, billionaire Elon Musk, supported a post 'supposedly anti-Semitic'.
