According to information from shrimp buyers, for nearly a month now, the price of raw shrimp in the Mekong Delta, including Kien Giang province, has increased again after a long period of price decline. On average, the price of each kilogram of shrimp has increased from 50,000 to 70,000 VND depending on size and type.

Farmers in Vinh Thuan district (Kien Giang province) harvest giant freshwater prawns amid good shrimp prices.

Specifically, the price of 12 giant freshwater prawns/kg ranges from 150,000 - 160,000 VND/kg; 10 giant freshwater prawns/kg costs 170,000 - 180,000 VND/kg; 15 giant freshwater prawns/kg costs 130,000 - 140,000 VND/kg. The price has increased compared to about 20 days ago, averaging 50,000 - 70,000 VND/kg depending on the size of the prawn.

Mr. Do Van Vu, residing in Binh Minh commune, Vinh Thuan district (Kien Giang province), said that it is now the end of the giant freshwater prawn harvest season, the amount of unharvested prawns is small, so the price of prawns has increased. Farmers are very excited.

Whiteleg shrimp prices also increased slightly compared to early November 2024, with an average price increase of about 4,000 - 5,000 VND/kg.

Specifically, the price of 100 shrimp/kg ranges from 95,000 - 102,000 VND/kg; 50 white-leg shrimp/kg costs 150,000 VND/kg; 30 white-leg shrimp/kg costs 195,000 VND/kg; 40 shrimp/kg costs 160,000 VND/kg.

The price of black tiger shrimp also increased sharply by about 50,000 VND/kg depending on size, the price of 20 black tiger shrimp/kg is 300,000 - 320,000 VND/kg.
