The Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City hopes to receive more comments and creative ideas from scientists and technology experts to improve the efficiency of state management agencies and enhance the quality of service for people in Ho Chi Minh City.
On May 10, the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Application of Science and Technology Advances (Saigon Innovation Hub) organized a conference on “Sharing problems on improving productivity, quality, and operational efficiency of People's Committees of wards, communes, and towns in Ho Chi Minh City” to collect and analyze challenges and difficulties in public administration activities, thereby ordering experts and scientists for appropriate solutions and models to improve the quality of service to the people, and improve productivity and quality of work.
At the conference, Mr. Tran Linh Dong, Chairman of Ward 9 People's Committee, District 11, raised the issue of ordering technology experts and scientists to solve the problems that the Ward People's Committee is still facing. According to Mr. Dong, currently, the ward's management data from different sources is different, overlapping, and fragmented, leading to difficulties in reporting and planning, not meeting enough and meeting the service needs. In addition, there is no common data connection, making it difficult to determine unified data in many areas.
Therefore, through the conference, Ward 9 People's Committee hopes to seek technical and technological solutions to solve the above problems in order to improve the operation of the administrative apparatus in the ward, thereby improving the quality of service to the people.
Ms. Phan Quy Truc, Deputy Head of the Department of Intellectual Property and Innovation Management, Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City, said that according to statistics of Ho Chi Minh City, the public sector system in Vietnam accounts for about 15% of the workforce and 25% of the labor expenditure of the whole society. The public sector is the place that creates common regulations for the whole society, therefore, new solutions and ideas to solve problems and needs for society are extremely important and urgent issues.
On the same day, representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Application of Science and Technology Advances launched the Gov.Star 2024 competition to seek innovative solutions and models in the fields of education, health and public administration in Ho Chi Minh City.
