On the afternoon of February 28 in Hanoi, the first conference of the Central Secretariat of the Vietnam Student Association, term XI, opened.
The event was chaired by Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet - Secretary of the Central Youth Union, President of the Central Vietnam Student Association - and Mr. Nguyen Ba Cat - Deputy Head of the Central Youth Union's School Youth Department, Vice President of the Central Vietnam Student Association.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet said that this conference discussed many important contents to carry out the tasks set out during the 2023 - 2028 term. Among the major groups of contents that need to be discussed and discussed thoroughly is the action program to implement the resolution of the 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Student Association, term 2023 - 2028.
Along with that is the plan to organize the Green Summer and Exam Support student volunteer campaigns in 2024.
Emphasizing that the action program to implement the resolution of the 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Student Association will be the framework program to deploy annual tasks, Mr. Triet suggested that the delegates attending the conference need to discuss and orient specific plans, suitable to the lives and practical needs of students at home and abroad.
In particular, determining that studying and thoroughly understanding the congress resolution is a regular task at the beginning of the term, how to bring the resolution to students, towards the successful completion of studying the 11th Congress resolution.
In addition to the 5 Good Students movement, Mr. Triet also emphasized that the implementation plan of the Green Summer and Exam Support activities needs to be updated with more needs, aspirations and innovate models and methods to create momentum and gather a large number of students to participate. In particular, it is necessary to grasp the guiding viewpoints of the Youth Union in the Year of Volunteer Youth to implement key activities.
At the conference, delegates gave their opinions on a number of key issues, focusing on promoting 5 Good Students and plans to implement the Exam Support activities before and after the National High School Exam to bring about better effects and spread widely in society.
Regarding promoting 5 Good Students, Mr. Nguyen Tat Toan - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Student Association of Ho Chi Minh City - proposed a solution for the Association to research and supplement the promotion of 5 Good Students after the commendation, including ordering 5 Good Students to contribute ideas and solutions to participate in the Association's activities and student movements.
Mr. Toan shared that the 5-good students are a group of exemplary students with many outstanding achievements in various fields. Therefore, the Association needs to promote them after the commendation, creating motivation for them to choose to work in state agencies.
In volunteer activities, he also proposed to order the promotion of scientific research topics of students in volunteer activities, especially with Student Associations of provinces and cities with areas related to borders and islands.
Ms. Pham Thi Thu Hien - President of the Vietnamese Student Association of Thai Nguyen province - gave her opinion on promoting digital transformation in the Association's activities, especially connecting the Vietnamese Student Associations of provinces and cities with the Vietnamese Student Association abroad in implementing the Association's activities and movements.
According to data from the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the total number of students currently is more than 2.4 million students studying at 244 universities and pedagogical colleges; 388 vocational training institutions at the college level nationwide.
There are more than 2.1 million members in 30 Vietnamese Student Associations at provincial and municipal levels; 13 Vietnamese Student Associations abroad; 39 Vietnamese Student Associations of centrally-affiliated schools; 245 Vietnamese Student Associations of schools affiliated to the Vietnamese Student Associations of provinces and cities.
