The Cultural Industry is determined to "keep the beat" and "create a new beat" in the integration era.

On the morning of August 23 at the Hanoi Opera House, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) solemnly held the 80th Anniversary of the Cultural Sector's Traditional Day (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2025). The ceremony was attended by General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, many Politburo members, leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front and nearly 600 delegates representing the team of managers, artists, athletes and outstanding coaches nationwide.

The celebration is not only an occasion to review the historical tradition of the formation and development of the industry, but also an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the important role and position of culture in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, as well as in realizing the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country.

The program was designed to harmonize the ceremony and the festival, recreating the 80-year journey of the industry, while honoring outstanding groups and individuals. The event became a broad political activity, arousing the confidence and pride of those working in cultural work across the country.

80 years: From the 1943 Cultural Outline to the modern cultural industry

In his speech at the ceremony, Minister Nguyen Van Hung emphasized: “Today, in the excitement and pride, the entire cultural sector feels like it has 'returned to the sacred moment' of the historic days 80 years ago - the successful August Revolution, beloved Uncle Ho read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam".

He said that holding the Anniversary Ceremony at the Hanoi Opera House has a special meaning, because this is where nearly eight decades ago, President Ho Chi Minh chaired the first National Cultural Conference, laying the foundation for the strategic idea "Culture must light the way for the nation to go".

The Minister expressed his deep gratitude to previous generations: “At this meaningful moment, we respectfully remember and express our infinite gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh, the National Liberation Hero, World Cultural Celebrity; express our deep gratitude to revolutionary predecessors, cultural workers through the periods who spared no effort, intelligence and blood to contribute to building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture, imbued with national identity, to achieve the great achievements of today”.

Minister Nguyen Van Hung recalled important milestones: from the 1943 Vietnamese Culture Outline with three principles of "Nation - Science - Mass", to the thematic resolutions of the Central Committee and the Politburo, all affirmed that culture is the soul of the nation, the driving force of development, and the "soft power" of the nation.

He affirmed: “Thanks to that correct and creative path, the 80-year journey of the Culture sector has created an epic with many emotional levels: Culture has nurtured the soul and identity, from the heroic music of the resistance culture, to the confident dances of integrated sports with aspirations to reach high, with the footsteps of tourism bringing the country to the world and the press becoming the conduit of knowledge connecting the trust between the Party and the People”.

Looking back on the recent journey, the Minister emphasized the outstanding achievements: awareness of the position and role of culture has become increasingly profound; cultural institutions have been perfected; a healthy cultural environment has been built; cultural industry has taken shape; cultural and sports diplomacy has achieved many successes; tourism has become a bright spot of the economy.

First Class Labor Medal – special recognition

Over 80 years of construction and development, the Culture, Sports and Tourism (CST) sector has achieved many important achievements, making great contributions to the cause of national construction and defense. In recognition of these achievements, on August 22, 2025, the President signed a decision to award the First Class Labor Medal to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

At the same time, the President also decided to award the First Class Labor Medal to Comrade Nguyen Van Hung, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in recognition of his outstanding achievements in directing and operating the fields of culture, information, sports and tourism to achieve many outstanding results in the recent period.

This is an affirmation of the special role and position of the culture, sports and tourism sector in the country's political and social life, as well as the trust and expectations that the Party, State and people have for the entire sector.

The task ahead: Keeping the beat and creating new beats

Minister Nguyen Van Hung pointed out: “With the spirit of ‘looking back to move further’, the road ahead has many advantages but also many difficulties and challenges. More than ever, the whole industry must have solutions to overcome these ‘bottlenecks’; at the same time, it must ‘keep the rhythm’ and create a ‘new rhythm’”.

He explained: “‘Keeping the rhythm’ means maintaining core values, keeping the flow of national culture from going astray, maintaining stability in organization, belief, and morality. ‘Creating a new rhythm’ means promoting courage, creating new momentum for development, creating a creative flow in leadership thinking, creating creative breakthroughs in the fields that the Ministry and the Industry are managing and administering.”

He pointed out four breakthrough tasks: building a resolution on cultural revival and development in the new era; synchronously implementing personnel work; focusing on building a healthy cultural environment; mobilizing and effectively promoting resources for cultural, sports and tourism development.

With the declaration of action: "Culture is the foundation - Information is the conduit - Sports is the strength - Tourism is the connecting bridge", the Minister affirmed that the whole Industry is determined to bring the cultural career into a new era, contributing to building a rich, democratic, fair, civilized, prosperous and happy Vietnam.

Representing the young generation, singer Ha Myo spoke at the ceremony with emotion: "Today, I am very honored and proud to represent the young generation of the Cultural sector to speak at the solemn 80th Anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnamese Cultural Sector".

She reiterated the role of culture in the resistance war and in the renovation and integration process: “Over the past eighty years, under the leadership of the Party and the management and administration of the State, the Cultural Sector has always accompanied the glorious pages of the nation's history: from the arduous years of resistance war, where songs, songs, newspapers, and paintings became sharp spiritual weapons... to today's renovation and integration, when culture is soft power, journalism and publishing are the foundation of knowledge, sports are strength, and tourism is the connecting bridge.”

Singer Ha Myo expressed her gratitude: “In this solemn ceremony, I would like to represent the young generation of the industry to express my gratitude and deep gratitude to the previous generations - those who laid the foundation, nurtured and brought the Vietnamese cultural industry to achieve the brilliant achievements it has today”.

She affirmed that the creative journey of today's young generation is a continuation: "If the predecessors have sown the seeds and nurtured a culture rich in identity, then the younger generation will be the ones to follow, nurture and develop it to new heights."

80 years of formation and development, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has written a proud journey, accompanying the nation through every stage of history. The 80th anniversary celebration at the Hanoi Opera House is not only an occasion for gratitude and remembrance, but also a strong affirmation of the aspiration to rise in the new era.
