China continues to be Vietnam's second largest export market.

Statistics from Lang Son Customs Department show that from the beginning of the year to May 15, the total import-export turnover through Lang Son province of all types of import-export reached over 20.1 billion USD.

Of which, the import-export turnover declared at Lang Son Customs Department reached over 1.8 billion USD, up 30% over the same period last year. Of which, exports reached 733.96 million USD, up 12.3% and imports reached over 1 billion USD, up 46.8% over the same period in 2023.

Vibrant export activities have brought Vietnam's export turnover to the Chinese market in the first four months of the year to 17.7 billion USD, an increase of 10.9% over the same period last year (equivalent to an additional turnover of 1.74 billion USD).

With the above results, China continues to be Vietnam's second largest export market (after the US market). Notably, by the end of April, 5 groups of our country's exports to this neighboring country had reached a turnover of 1 billion USD or more, an increase of 3 groups compared to the same period in 2023.

According to statistics from the Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone, from the end of April 2024 to present, on average, about 400 vehicles carrying fresh fruits to the province's border gate area every day (mainly to Huu Nghi and Tan Thanh international border gates). To ensure the quality of fresh fruit shipments, the agencies and functional forces at the border gate have flexibly implemented solutions to promote customs clearance of this item.

Tan Thanh Customs Branch (Lang Son Customs Department) - said that at this time, on average, about 322 cargo vehicles are cleared every day, of which 195 are imported and 127 are exported, the majority of which are vehicles carrying agricultural products and fresh fruits. Agricultural products exported through Tan Thanh border gate include watermelon, jackfruit, mango, dragon fruit, cassava starch, etc.

At Huu Nghi international border gate, every day the Huu Nghi border gate Customs Branch receives and handles customs clearance procedures for nearly 1,000 import and export vehicles, of which about 669 vehicles export and about 327 import. The number of vehicles carrying agricultural products and fresh fruits exported each day through this border gate alone reaches 248 vehicles. Mainly durian, dragon fruit, jackfruit, grapefruit, lychee, etc.

Notably, the amount of lychee from Bac Giang exported to the Chinese market through border gates in Lang Son province has also begun to increase.

Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen - Permanent Vice Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee - said that Lang Son highly appreciated the active and comprehensive cooperation efforts between the two Provinces and Regions in the past time and thanked the leaders of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region for always supporting and promoting the coordination with Lang Son province to successfully organize this event.

In the coming time, to further promote the role of the largest land border gate between Vietnam and China of the Huu Nghi - Huu Nghi Quan international border gate pair, creating a favorable premise for effectively implementing the smart border gate model on the dedicated road for transporting goods in the area of ​​landmarks 1119 - 1120, 1088/2-1089 of the Huu Nghi - Huu Nghi Quan international border gate, the Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Lang Son province hopes that: The two sides will continue to coordinate closely, increase exchanges, and report to competent authorities for approval so that the customs clearance routes and dedicated roads for transporting goods in the Huu Nghi - Huu Nghi Quan international border gate pair can fully enjoy the nature and functions of an international border gate.

Along with that, agreeing on solutions to improve customs clearance convenience and delivery methods suitable to the conditions and needs of both sides. The Standing Vice Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee believes that with the consensus and close cooperation of the two provinces and regions, the position and role of the Huu Nghi - Huu Nghi Quan border gate pair in the ASEAN - China free trade area will be increasingly enhanced and strongly developed.

Mr. Miao Qingwang - Vice Chairman of the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China - said that in recent times, the friendly and cooperative neighborly relationship between Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China and Lang Son province has been increasingly consolidated, developed comprehensively and in depth. This is demonstrated by the fact that the two sides have actively exchanged and agreed to officially put into operation the Huu Nghi - Huu Nghi Quan international border gate extending to Tan Thanh - Po Chai, Coc Nam - Lung Nghiu openings. This is truly an important economic event for both sides.

According to experts, the official opening of dedicated roads; Tan Thanh and Coc Nam customs clearance routes at Huu Nghi international border gate will be a timely solution to improve customs clearance capacity, especially for Vietnam's agricultural products and fresh fruit exports.

In recent years, two-way import and export activities through the border gates of Lang Son province (Vietnam) and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China) have been smooth and vibrant. In particular, in 2023, the total import and export turnover of all types through the border gates of Lang Son province (Vietnam) - Guangxi (China) reached over 52 billion USD, an increase of more than 85% compared to 2022; in the first 5 months of 2024, it reached over 22 billion USD, an increase of about 30% compared to the same period in 2023.
