The scientific research movement, participation in topics and creative competitions among students at universities and colleges in the province is increasingly developing with many practical topics, highly applicable in life. This is one of the activities that actively supports teaching and learning. Recognizing this important role, over the years, universities and colleges in the province have promoted scientific research activities, practically helping students access new knowledge, practice creative thinking skills, independent research ability and teamwork.
Students of Viet Tri University of Industry research and manufacture products to participate in the "Student Intelligence Technology" contest.
Passion for research
At the 2023 "Student Intelligence Technology" playground organized by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Vietnam Student Support and Development Center and Canon Vietnam Co., Ltd., the team from Viet Tri University of Industry was honored to win the second prize. With the theme "Manufacturing an automatic envelope folding device", the team of authors under the guidance of lecturer Nguyen Huu Quan - Faculty of Mechanical - Automotive Engineering came up with ideas, sketched 3D designs and manufactured the products for the competition.
Sharing about the process of completing from idea to product, student Dang Quang Linh - Faculty of Mechanical - Automotive Engineering said: "Immediately after having the idea, we discussed the plan, listened to the instructions and comments of the teachers, then the design using specialized software was sketched out so that the whole group could visualize the overall product we would make. During the actual process, after many tests, we also made changes and improvements to make the product more complete. The product is evaluated as quite simple, highly economical (due to low processing costs), automatic without using electrical equipment and control equipment, available components and easy processing, highly automated".
As the only female member of the author group, student Do Ngoc Diep shared: “During the process of implementing the topic, the group received enthusiastic attention and professional support from the school's leadership, as well as teachers in the department. Being able to participate in a technology topic, I feel more mature, and be able to apply the knowledge I have learned into practice. Especially at the competition, being able to exchange and learn knowledge and experience from other teams will help each student have more passion for creativity.”
The group of authors of the scientific research topic: "Exploiting the beauty of Mathematics in teaching and learning Mathematics towards developing a culture of Mathematics for students to meet the requirements of innovation in the general education program of Mathematics 2018" by the group of authors Ngo Duc Duy, a 3rd year student of Mathematics Pedagogy, Hung Vuong University, excellently won the First Prize of the "Science and Technology" award for students in the 2023-2024 school year. From the study of theoretical and practical foundations, the topic proposed a number of measures to develop the elements of a culture of Mathematics for students in teaching Mathematics through exploiting the beauty of Mathematics, meeting the requirements of innovation in the general education program of Mathematics 2018. Thereby contributing to developing in students the necessary competencies of global Vietnamese citizens in the new era.
Student Ngo Duc Duy and members presented scientific research topics.
Ngo Duc Duy shared: “Ever since I was in high school, I have had a love for numbers, for the magic of Mathematics. Becoming a student of Mathematics Education, studying in depth, along with the suggestions of teachers, I and the group of authors have found many new and attractive things about Mathematics. The more I research and learn, the more I feel the beauty of Mathematics, no longer the dryness of formulas and numbers, and I want to convey that to students, creating an attraction for Mathematics. In addition to this topic, in the past school years, I have also had the opportunity to participate as a member of a number of other research topics. For me, through each topic, I have become more mature in my work as well as formed scientific and effective working habits.”
Building a creative environment
The province currently has 10 universities and colleges with a total of over 6,500 students. In recent times, activities to support students in scientific research and innovative startups have been effectively implemented by schools, youth union organizations, and student associations.
