Boosting domestic consumption and connecting global supply chains
On November 2, in Can Tho City, the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy (Ministry of Industry and Trade) chaired and coordinated with the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City to organize a Forum to promote regional linkages in e-commerce development in Can Tho and the Mekong Delta.
The forum was attended by leaders of ministries, branches, localities and representatives of over 200 enterprises, associations, industries; e-commerce platforms, partners in digital transformation and financial solutions with enterprises, cooperatives, production and business establishments in the Mekong Delta and Southeast regions.

Speaking at the forum, on behalf of the leaders of Can Tho City, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Nguyen Thuc Hien hoped that the Ministry of Industry and Trade as well as other ministries and branches would have many activities to connect and share orientations on state management and domestic market development, promote local digital transformation and strengthen management and supervision of e-commerce activities.
From there, local businesses can improve their skills and e-commerce operations capacity, develop product brands, proactively promote the expansion of new distribution channels as well as support export activities through cross-border e-commerce through the support of parties. All of these are within the goal of promoting the development of e-commerce in regional linkages in the Mekong Delta and the Southeast provinces, exploiting the potential and advantages of the region.

At the forum, partners shared e-commerce solutions or e-commerce support services that have been implemented in practice with many different operating models. This shows the diverse and rich development of e-commerce types.
Building a competitive and sustainable e-commerce market
At the forum, Ms. Le Hoang Oanh - Director of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy shared that promoting regional linkages in e-commerce development is a consistent policy and one of the key orientations of the Party and Government to promote the advantages of modern distribution methods and develop regional economies.

"Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, together with ministries, branches, localities, associations and enterprises, have been implementing many activities and solutions to support the development of the e-commerce market, including the Mekong Delta and Southeast regions," said Ms. Oanh.
In addition, Ms. Oanh emphasized that regional linkage in e-commerce is a cooperative activity between enterprises, economic organizations, and state management agencies in economic regions to exploit and effectively use resources, promote the development of intra-regional and inter-regional e-commerce.
To strengthen management and orientation to promote regional linkage development in current e-commerce development, promote digital transformation associated with local e-commerce development, support Vietnamese enterprises and export markets, the leader of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy added: "It is necessary to strengthen two-way coordination between state agencies and localities to promote regional linkage in e-commerce development".

At the same time, according to Ms. Oanh, localities also need to proactively connect with each other to promote mutual strengths. In addition, it is also necessary to promote the implementation of many solutions to support the development of the e-commerce market. Improve the capacity to implement the national e-commerce development plan in Decision 645. Call for socialization and the cooperation of businesses in supporting and transferring solutions suitable for regional economic development.
"With the advantage of developing key products such as agricultural products, seafood, rice, and handicrafts, the e-commerce market in the provinces of the Mekong Delta and Southeast regions is expected to continue to maintain growth, develop diversity, richness, and deeply integrate with regional e-commerce," said the leader of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy.

Also at the forum, representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, local Departments of Industry and Trade, associations, e-commerce platforms and local manufacturing enterprises shared many contents on state management orientations, local digital transformation and strengthening management and supervision of e-commerce activities, developing the domestic market, promoting product consumption on e-commerce platforms, etc.
In addition to solutions and policies aimed at promoting the consumption of Vietnamese products on e-commerce platforms, in response to the Program of giving priority to using Vietnamese products, e-commerce platforms Sendo, Shopee, and Postmart have joined hands to build a program to sell Vietnamese products on e-commerce platforms. This is also a practical action to promote the consumption of regional and local products on e-commerce platforms.

With the series of events taking place at the forum, local businesses will find suitable support solutions, together with central and local agencies towards the goal of digital transformation, technology development and promoting product distribution on e-commerce platforms; exploiting well the Government's policies to support businesses, cooperatives, production and trading establishments of specialty products and products in Can Tho City and provinces in the Mekong Delta region.
Also within the framework of the forum, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Department of Industry and Trade of the provinces in the Mekong Delta and Southeast regions with reputable domestic and international e-commerce platforms in supporting the development of local products on e-commerce platforms. This signing ceremony as well as the commitment of the parties will mark the beginning of a new phase of cooperation between the authorities, partners and local businesses of the provinces in the Mekong Delta and Southeast regions.
