On the afternoon of September 26, the Diplomatic Academy held the opening ceremony of the Japanese Room. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Thanh Binh; Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Ito Naoki; Acting Director of the Diplomatic Academy, Ambassador, Dr. Pham Lan Dung; along with representatives from the Embassy of Japan, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Vietnam, the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam (JF), several units under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, staff, lecturers and students majoring in Japanese Studies at the Diplomatic Academy.
This event is a testament to the commitment of both countries to strengthen cooperation in education and training, contributing to building a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Pham Thanh Binh congratulated the Diplomatic Academy and the Embassy of Japan for turning the idea of the Japan Room into reality, and expressed his thanks to the government, people, organizations and individuals of Japan for supporting and cooperating with Vietnam in the past time.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan are developing strongly in many fields, from economics, politics to culture and education. Both sides are proud that the comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world has achieved impressive results.
Deputy Minister Pham Thanh Binh also affirmed that the Japan Room will not only be reserved for students majoring in Japanese studies but will serve all students interested in learning about Japan, and expressed his belief that the academic programs, cultural exchanges and knowledge sharing here will contribute to enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries.

On the Japanese side, Ambassador Ito Naoki affirmed that this event is both an important milestone and a first step to deepen the bilateral relationship in the next 50 years.
Appreciating the academy’s efforts in promoting cultural and educational relations between Vietnam and Japan, Ambassador Ito Naoki also expressed his hope that future generations of Diplomatic Academy students will use the Japan Room to learn more deeply about Japan, and affirmed that this will be a space for cultural and intellectual exchange, solidifying the foundation for future cooperation.
Acting Director of the Diplomatic Academy, Dr. Pham Lan Dung, emphasized the importance of cultural understanding, empathy and international cooperation in modern diplomacy. Dr. Pham Lan Dung affirmed that the Japan Department, with support from the Embassy of Japan, will provide students with opportunities to access Japan's rich cultural heritage, language and diplomatic practices.
Emphasizing that Japan has long been a reliable partner of Vietnam in the field of education, providing support through scholarship programs, student exchanges and research cooperation, the Acting Director of the Diplomatic Academy expressed his belief that the Japan Office will inspire and equip the academy's students with knowledge to contribute to the long-term and sustainable success of the Vietnam-Japan relationship.
