Before 2022, Cua Viet town was always the leading locality in the province in sending workers to work abroad under contracts. The income from workers sent back home not only develops the family economy, but also contributes to promoting the local socio-economic development through solving on-site employment.
In particular, Directive No. 20-CT/TW (Directive No. 20) dated December 12, 2022 of the Secretariat of the 13th Party Central Committee "On strengthening the Party's leadership in sending Vietnamese workers to work abroad in the new situation" was issued and implemented by Gio Linh province and district, making this work in Cua Viet town more in-depth and effective.
Mr. Phan Van Chinh in Ward 2 is one of four brothers in a family with four children who all work abroad under contract. Mr. Chinh works in the manufacturing industry in Korea. After completing his 5-year contract, he returned to his family for nearly 2 years and then continued to complete his application to work for the second time in Korea with a 5-year contract.
Thanks to his high skills, this time Mr. Chinh continues to work in the manufacturing industry. The work is hard but the income is high. After deducting expenses, he sends home about 40 million VND each month to his family. Mr. Chinh's three remaining brothers also have stable jobs abroad with incomes that many people dream of.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Dao's family in Ward 2 has 4 children working abroad under contract. Of the 2 working in Japan, 1 is qualified to stay and work long-term thanks to having the necessary knowledge and experience to meet the requirements of highly specialized work. This is a popular working model abroad that many Vietnamese workers are striving to achieve.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Cua Viet town Nguyen Xuan Phuong said that the locality currently has more than 600 workers working abroad under contracts, not to mention those who have completed their contracts and returned to the locality to organize production and business. The workers are concentrated in the markets of Japan, Korea...; new markets such as Germany, Sweden, the US... have more than 40 people.
Currently, the German job market is attractive, so many workers want to participate. The number of workers from Cua Viet town going to Germany to work is increasing. With a much higher income than other markets, Germany is always on the list of countries that workers from Quang Tri province as well as Vietnam aim for.
In addition, the rate of people applying to work abroad in Cua Viet town is always double the number of people who are selected to work every year. The town's residents consider working abroad under contract as the most suitable and effective way during this period. Cua Viet town has about 40% of young workers working abroad. The high income from these workers has contributed to improving family life, helping many families become well-off, and the socio-economic landscape in the area has changed significantly. Many workers have overcome poverty, invested in production, business, developed production, and stabilized the economy.
According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuong, in the coming time, the Town Party Committee will continue to focus on raising awareness and responsibility of Party cells, Party members, and workers about the role and importance of sending workers to work abroad. Determine the responsibility of the heads of Party committees and authorities in leading, directing, and implementing this work in conjunction with the orientation and strategy for local socio-economic development.
Promote the role of socio-political organizations, especially youth unions, women's unions, farmers' unions... in mobilizing and creating the best conditions for those who want to work abroad to fully meet the conditions prescribed by law.
Along with that, the Town People's Committee organizes investigation, review, and update information on fluctuations in labor supply and demand in the area; learns about the needs and aspirations of workers, propagates and explains to workers about the Party's policies, the State's policies and laws on working abroad under contracts.
The People's Committee of Cua Viet town proposed that the district and departments and branches further strengthen the connection between enterprises with the function of sending workers to work abroad and vocational training institutions in the province to provide vocational training, foreign languages, orientation education and necessary knowledge for workers. Continue to organize mobile job fairs to provide consultation and create conditions for workers to access more job search skills according to their wishes.
