3 more suspected cases of botulinum poisoning due to eating pork roll and fish sauce

On May 20, Dr. Le Quoc Hung - Head of the Department of Tropical Diseases, Cho Ray Hospital, said that all 3 patients above are in Thu Duc City (HCMC), including 2 brothers aged 18 and 26, the remaining person is a 45-year-old man.

A patient is being treated at Cho Ray Hospital.

According to initial information, on May 13, the two patients, who are siblings, ate bread with pork sausage. Then on May 14, they showed signs of digestive disorders, fatigue, headache, and dizziness. On May 15, the symptoms worsened, with double vision and muscle pain, and they were admitted to the Hospital for Tropical Diseases. They were then transferred to Cho Ray Hospital.

The third patient is a 45-year-old man who was transferred to Gia Dinh People's Hospital. This person said he ate a type of fish sauce that had been stored for a long time.

Test results from Gia Dinh People's Hospital showed that the patient had botulinum poisoning from food.
