In the 1989-1990 school year, Mr. Tran Hong Phuong worked at Chu Van An Primary School (Ward 7, Vi Thanh City, Hau Giang) and lived in a dormitory. At that time, there were not many students and most of them were 9-10 years old and just entering first grade. Life was difficult, many children did not have notebooks or decent clothes and many had to drop out of school.

As a "teacher", Mr. Phuong is very concerned, but other than encouragement, he can't help much more because his salary of 23,000 VND/month is only enough to support himself. Many sympathetic parents also give rice to help teachers stick with the job.

Then, when he got married and had children, Mr. Phuong drove a motorbike taxi at night to earn more income. "Whenever I confided in my colleagues or drove passengers, people asked me about my job. Thanks to that, I got to know many people who wanted to help students. Around 2000, I received my first gifts of books and school bags. Giving gifts to any student was very awkward, because almost all of them were in difficult circumstances. Therefore, whenever someone supported me, I felt happy for them," Mr. Phuong said.

Mr. Phuong's devotion to his students has touched the hearts of many philanthropists. Every year, more resources are mobilized, and the teacher's good deeds continue to spread. Up to now, nearly 25 years later, Mr. Phuong is still devoted to the work of mobilizing socialization to bring good things to life. He is even more active than before, because the good deeds he does are not only aimed at students but also extended to the difficult things in society.

In the 3 years 2022 - 2024, Mr. Phuong has done a lot for his school. He has mobilized to donate bicycles, gym uniforms, books, school bags, Tet gifts, monthly necessities to students; mobilized to build a roof for the school yard, build fences, buy school drums, team drums, build a model of island propaganda in the school yard... Moreover, he also shared with many difficult cases in remote primary schools of Vi Thanh city such as Vo Thi Sau, Pham Hong Thai, Nguyen Trung Truc...

In addition, he left a good impression on the local people when he mobilized a large amount of cement, sand, rock, and solar lights to upgrade bridges and roads. Typical examples are the Dua Ho Sen bridge and the road along Sang Hau canal (in Ward 7, Vi Thanh City). Mr. Phuong's contributions have been recognized through many certificates of merit. But for him, the greatest pride is that many of the students he has helped now have stable careers, some of whom have become teachers.

Mr. Ngo Van Thoi, Principal of Chu Van An Primary School, said that Mr. Phuong is one of the oldest teachers at the school. He regularly takes care of the students, especially the 26 students from poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households of the school. Being both good at his profession and actively doing good deeds, he is loved and highly appreciated by everyone. In particular, his spirit of living for everyone is something that many young teachers try to follow.
