Amara Camara, spokesman for Guinea's military government, announced the decree on national television.

Previously, on February 19, the military government in Guinea dissolved the transitional government led by Prime Minister Bernard Goumou, but did not give a reason.

Mr. Amadou Oury Bah was a colleague of Mr. Cellou Dalein Diallo - former Prime Minister of Guinea and leader of the Union of Democratic Forces of Guinea (UFDG).

In 2008, Mr. Amadou Oury Bah briefly served as Minister of National Reconciliation, Solidarity and Relations with Organizations.

Guinea has been under military control since a military coup in September 2021. The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has been pressuring the military government in Guinea to hold elections and restore civilian rule.

In October 2022, the parties agreed on a 24-month transition period. Under pressure from the international community, the military government in Guinea pledged to transfer power to a civilian government through elections, scheduled to be held by the end of 2024.
