The Vietnam-China friendship and solidarity, founded by President Ho Chi Minh and Chairman Mao Zedong and nurtured by generations of leaders of both countries, has become a valuable common asset of the two peoples. The stable development and great, historic achievements of the Vietnam-China relationship in recent years have given the people of both countries deep confidence in a new, stronger, more substantial stage of development of comprehensive strategic partnership and cooperation in the future.

Quang Ninh - Guangxi with close geographical location, people of the two border localities often travel back and forth. The Vietnam - China border in Quang Ninh - Guangxi is truly a space for peaceful cooperation, friendship, and mutual development; a place with bustling trade and tourism activities, playing an important role in the socio-economic development of the border localities of the two countries.

The warm friendship of “both comrades and brothers” has been crystallized over many generations, between the two provinces and regions, and has increasingly blossomed through cooperation mechanisms and models at the local level. Especially in recent years, through the Spring Meeting Program and the Conference of the Joint Working Committee of the four border provinces of Vietnam (Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Ha Giang) and Guangxi (China), the friendship and cooperation between Quang Ninh and Guangxi has been further tightened and strengthened, creating an important foundation and premise for socio-economic development, cultural exchange, and improving the material and spiritual life of the people.

In 2024, concretizing the minutes of the 2024 Spring Meeting on building a community of sharing the future of Vietnam - China has strategic significance; the cooperation contents have been agreed upon by the leaders of the provinces and regions within the framework of the 2024 Spring Meeting and the 15th Joint Working Committee Conference, Quang Ninh and Guangxi regularly maintain delegation exchanges between levels and sectors, creating conditions for sectors, units and people of the two sides to exchange and have friendly exchanges. In 2024, Quang Ninh organized 46 working delegations in Guangxi and welcomed and worked with 41 visiting and working delegations from Guangxi. Through the exchange of delegations of leaders at the provincial, regional, district, and town levels and specialized agencies, the two sides have agreed on many cooperation contents and actively implemented these contents in appropriate ways, promoting friendly exchanges and cooperation to continuously go into depth and practicality.

People's diplomacy activities in many diverse and practical forms are regularly organized with profound cultural, tourism and commercial events such as Vietnam - China Friendship Song, Lotus publication, antiphonal singing on Bac Luan River, Vietnam - China International Trade and Tourism Fair...

Cooperation in key areas between the two provinces and regions is increasingly substantive. Specifically, in the field of trade and investment, import and export activities through the border gates of the two provinces and regions remain stable, with high customs clearance efficiency. The total import and export turnover through the border gates of Quang Ninh province reached 4.42 billion USD. In 2024, Quang Ninh and Guangxi announced the pair of bilateral border gates Hoanh Mo - Dong Trung including the Bac Phong Sinh - Ly Hoa customs clearance, facilitating the trade of goods.

In the field of tourism, Quang Ninh - Guangxi have organized delegation exchanges, joint promotion programs, built and developed new programs, routes, and tourism products to serve tourists from both sides. These include successfully restoring the Beihai (China) - Ha Long (Vietnam) sea tourism route; organizing tourism survey activities for Famtrip groups between the two sides; removing difficulties in organizing tourist groups to visit Vietnam through Mong Cai International Border Gate, reopening self-driving tourist car tours, developing a tourism development plan through the bilateral border gate pair Hoanh Mo (Vietnam) - Dong Trung (China) including the Bac Phong Sinh - Ly Hoa customs clearance; supporting the organization of training courses for Quang Ninh tour guides in Guangxi... In 2024, the number of Chinese tourists staying in Quang Ninh will reach 551,000; Chinese tourists entering through Mong Cai International Border Gate reached 370,500.

Along with cooperation in developing border trade, improving the convenience of import and export activities through border gates, promoting tourism development, cooperation in a number of other fields has also been effectively implemented by the authorities, departments and branches of both sides, especially in the fields of health, agriculture, science and technology, education and training, border management, etc.

The results achieved in recent times are the joint efforts of both sides, gradually promoting and developing the relationship between Quang Ninh and Guangxi to become increasingly deeper, more effective and more substantial. Thereby contributing to strengthening friendship and political trust, bringing to the people of the two provinces and regions deep confidence in a new, stronger and more substantial stage of development of cooperative relations, making practical contributions to the overall relationship between Vietnam and China from the local level.

In the context of the positive development of the relationship between the two countries entering a new phase with deeper substantive cooperation, the authorities, sectors and people of Quang Ninh province are determined to continuously consolidate and promote the friendly cooperation between Quang Ninh and Guangxi to become a model in the overall relationship between Vietnam and China.
