(GLO)- From May 15 to May 21, the Traffic Safety Committee of Gia Lai province will implement a plan to organize activities in response to the 7th Global Road Safety Week launched by the United Nations.
Accordingly, the communication and response work focuses on activities to improve green and sustainable transportation through participation in green-clean-safe transportation. Specifically, it is to mobilize people to voluntarily comply with traffic safety laws, gradually shifting from participating in traffic by personal motor vehicles to using bicycles, electric vehicles, public transportation and walking; at the same time, it is to mobilize drivers to comply with speed regulations, give way to pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles when passing through urban areas and densely populated areas.

In response to this week, the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee will coordinate to organize a seminar for young people on sustainable green transportation; organize propaganda on road traffic laws for young people.
Along with that, the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee also urged and requested the Provincial Police to direct local police to pay attention to handling speeding violations in urban areas, densely populated areas, especially areas passing schools; acts of motor vehicle drivers violating road sections, lanes, areas reserved for pedestrians, rudimentary vehicles, buses, acts of non-compliance with regulations on giving way to pedestrians and rudimentary vehicles.
The Department of Transport will continue to strengthen the connection of public transport; increase the frequency and improve the quality of intra-provincial and intra-regional buses and fixed-route and inter-provincial passenger buses; implement solutions to improve safety conditions of road infrastructure, etc.
