At the Dong Thap provincial bridge, the Ministry of Construction coordinated with the People's Committees of Vinh Long and Dong Thap provinces to organize the inauguration ceremony and put into operation the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Investment Project connecting Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces (now Vinh Long and Dong Thap provinces). According to the leaders of the Ministry of Construction , of the 250 projects and works that were started and inaugurated on this occasion, there were 89 projects and works inaugurated and 161 projects and works that were started. Of these, there were 59 transport infrastructure projects; 44 civil - urban projects; 57 industrial projects; 36 technical infrastructure projects; 22 social housing projects; 6 agriculture and rural development projects; 3 culture and sports projects; 12 education projects; 1 defense project; 10 health projects. The total investment of the projects and works is 1.28 million billion VND, including: 478,000 billion VND from the State capital for 129 projects and 802,000 billion VND for 121 projects from other capital sources.

INAUGURATION OF RACH MIEU 2 BRIDGE

Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Project is one of the key projects inaugurated on this occasion. The project has a total investment of over 6,810 billion VND from the State budget; designed as a cable-stayed bridge, more than 1,971 km long, a grade III plain road, 4 lanes. The total length of the project is about 17.6 km; construction started on March 29, 2022. The project is considered a symbol of the spirit of self-reliance of the Vietnamese bridge workers. During the implementation process, the project has encountered many difficulties, but thanks to the attention and close direction of the Party and State leaders; the close coordination of the two provinces of Tien Giang and Ben Tre (now Dong Thap and Vinh Long provinces) ... the project was completed about 5 months early.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony and putting into operation the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge construction investment project, Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee Tran Tri Quang said that Rach Mieu 2 Bridge not only meets the travel needs of millions of people, promotes economic, trade and tourism development of Vinh Long and Dong Thap provinces in particular, but also contributes significantly to strengthening regional connectivity, creating momentum to promote socio-economic development for the Mekong Delta region in general. From this project, it is possible to clearly see the great progress in planning and investing in infrastructure development of the region. In the coming time, Dong Thap will effectively exploit the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project and other infrastructure projects, effectively serving the cause of industrialization and modernization, contributing to the successful implementation of sustainable development goals, building a rich and civilized homeland of Dong Thap.

IMPORTANT FOUNDATION FOR INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that in recent times, under the leadership of the Party and the Government, the Prime Minister has resolutely directed the concentration of resources to implement three strategic breakthroughs to develop the country quickly and sustainably; including developing strategic infrastructure, unleashing all resources to develop the country. A series of key national highways and expressways have been formed, important large-scale projects, many international-scale projects, industrial parks, urban areas, medical, educational, social, sports infrastructure, etc. have been invested, built and inaugurated. The whole country is striving to have at least 3,000 km of expressways, 1,700 km of coastal roads by the end of 2025; basically completing Long Thanh International Airport, Noi Bai International Terminal T2; Complete at least 100,000 social housing units... These are important premises and foundations for the strong development of the country's infrastructure in the new period, in the new era.
