• STABLE CHAINS
Da Chais Commune, Lac Duong District is an important strategic location during nearly 20 years of resistance against the US, for national independence. In this land, the K'Ho ethnic people have a tradition of steadfast, indomitable revolutionary struggle, self-reliance, and self-reliance, contributing a lot of human and material resources to the revolution. All classes of people, young and old, men and women, preachers, village elders... all followed the revolution to participate in the resistance. The previous generation fell, the next generation advanced, many generations joined together to fight the enemy and save the country.
During the fierce struggle against the enemy, despite all the difficulties and hardships, Da Chais commune had a Party organization, Youth Union, Women's Union, a guerrilla platoon and a commune command board. Throughout the resistance war against the US, as well as the 10 years of fighting to resolve the Fulro issue after the complete liberation of the South, the Da Chais guerrilla militia force was always consolidated, built and developed, successfully completing the combat and training tasks assigned by superiors.
The Da Chais guerrilla force experienced fierce war years, the more they fought the more mature they became. Although the force was small, they knew how to take full advantage of the mountains and forests, mastered small-scale fighting, fought the enemy with all kinds of weapons from guns and bullets to mines, spikes, and traps, creating high combat efficiency, firmly protecting the base area, protecting the safety of the Lac Duong District Party Committee, Tuyen Duc Provincial Party Committee, the prisoner of war camp, and protecting the province's corridors throughout the period of fighting the Americans. The Da Chais base became a trusted place, a solid support for the local resistance leadership and direction agencies.
From mid-1975 to 1987, Da Chais was the leading commune in solving the Fulro problem. The militia force participated in dozens of raids, eliminating many from combat. The people voluntarily called on and mobilized Fulro reactionaries to return and present themselves to the revolutionary government. Da Chais was one of the communes that solved the Fulro problem best and earliest in Lam Dong province. With that achievement, Da Chais was awarded the Second Class Military Exploit Medal by the State. And with its especially outstanding achievements in the resistance war against the US to save the country, in 1994, the Party Committee, army and people of Da Chais were honored to be awarded the noble title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and State.

• HEROIC LAND "CHANGES NEW CLOTHES"
Coming to Da Chais in the historic days of April, walking on the wide asphalt road connecting the commune to the district center, the concrete roads stretching between villages, looking at the coffee gardens along the hillsides filled with vibrant green, and the spacious houses looming, one can see the changes in prosperity in each village of the old base area.
In the small house in Tu Poh village, the most solemn place is reserved for Mr. Ko Sa Ha Ba to hang a picture of Uncle Ho. As one of the brave sons of the Central Highlands mountains and forests who once stood shoulder to shoulder with the village to establish a revolutionary base here, Mr. Ha Ba is currently a 2/3 disabled soldier, with a body injury rate of 62%, 78 years old but still participating in production labor. He shared: "In the past, I was not afraid of danger to participate in the resistance war, now I have to continue working so that my children and grandchildren can follow my example, contributing to the development of my homeland."
Like Mr. Ha Ba, many people in Da Chais commune during the resistance war wholeheartedly followed the revolution; in peacetime, people in the old base area stood shoulder to shoulder, joining hands to build their homeland and villages to become more civilized and prosperous.
After the country's reunification, with the attention and investment of the Party and the State, Da Chais commune has strived to develop culture, education, health care, strengthen national defense and security, while taking care of economic development and building a new life. Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Chais commune, Vu Ba Phong, said that the commune has nearly 600 households with over 2,200 people, of which ethnic minorities account for 83%. Currently, people have gradually stabilized production, doing household garden economy combined with contracting to manage and protect forests. Some households have produced products with high economic value, the products have become commodities; scientific and technical advances have been applied to production. People's lives have improved significantly, with average income per capita reaching 61 million VND/person/year.
From a commune with a high rate of poor households, thanks to poverty reduction policies as well as the implementation of national target programs such as: supporting housing construction, supporting livelihood models, mobilizing people to change crop structure, up to now, Da Chais commune has only 5 poor households, accounting for 0.8% of the commune's population.
From various sources of capital, the Central and local governments have invested in Da Chais commune to build infrastructure, support production development, and stabilize settlement for ethnic minorities. Combined with state investment projects, Da Chais commune has gradually completed infrastructure such as electricity, roads, schools, stations, domestic water, cultural and sports facilities, etc. In 2018 and 2022, Da Chais commune achieved outstanding results in the emulation movement of Lam Dong province. In December 2019, Da Chais reached the new rural finish line.
Along with economic development, Da Chais commune pays special attention to the cultural and spiritual life of the people, especially preserving and promoting the unique K'Ho indigenous cultural traditions, linking the preservation of traditional culture with tourism development. Da Chais commune has been supported to build the K'Ho traditional village, Dung K'Si village to develop a community-based tourism model. In addition, every year, Da Chais commune also organizes competitions, contests, and festivals such as: gong beating, folk songs, folk sports or recreating the wedding ceremony of the K'Ho ethnic group... to review the good cultural traditions of the nation.
Now, the people in the revolutionary base area of the heroic Da Chais commune are welcoming a new life from the fruits of labor with their hands and minds, and the unity of the Party Committee, government, army and people. Proud of their homeland's revolutionary tradition, the people of Da Chais are trying their best to overcome difficulties, educate their children to promote the revolutionary tradition, work hard, develop the economy, and enrich their families and their homeland. All of these things have made the picture of the remote, isolated areas and ethnic minority areas of Da Chais brighter, filled with faith in a prosperous, warm and happy life.
