Son Tung M-TP will not be able to 'climb' Top Trending again?

Having created a phenomenon with many products with huge views, quickly appearing in Top Trending, in the near future, Son Tung M-TP and many other names will no longer be able to maintain this achievement, when YouTube has just "killed" this feature.

Appearing in 2015, Top Trending or Trending Charts used to hold an extremely important position when it came to showing what content Internet users were loving or interested in. At that time, the charts were constantly dominated by music videos, blockbuster movie trailers and many other entertainment content.

But 10 years later, with the trend toward personalization and the diversity of content creation, a simple category like Top Trending can’t cover everything. So the end result is a process that’s not too difficult to understand.

Current Top Trending in Vietnam Market

According to YouTube's announcement, to replace Top Trending, YouTube Charts in various categories will be launched soon. First, the 3 categories Music, Podcast and Movie Trailer will be launched soonest, because these are the most "groups" with videos that entered Top Trending before.

But it doesn't stop there, YouTube will also quickly add other categories over time, including Games, Video Streaming as well as many other rich forms.

In addition to the inevitable trend of personalization, data from YouTube also shows that search suggestions and other platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook have significantly reduced traffic to trending pages in recent times.

Additionally, content creators have criticized YouTube for requiring much higher viewership to appear in the trending section compared to brand, business, or organizational accounts that post movie trailers, TV clips, and other traditional media.

In response, YouTube said it is exploring new ways to make it easier for users to "discover" emerging creators on the platform, such as the Hype advertising system it launched last year.

In Vietnam, over the years, Top Trending has been a factor in evaluating the success or failure of an artist's product. Records such as being at the top of the Top Trending in a short period of time reflect the audience's love for the product.

This is still true today, when according to statistics in our country's market, the program Em xinh say hi is occupying many important positions, alongside solo artists such as Phuong My Chi, SOOBIN, B Ray... Even an international star, the group Blackpink, has just entered the list with the new single Jump .   launch

This creates inequality between passionate personal products and videos that are part of a program with sponsors and large investments. Not to mention, artists who are more creative and experimental often have a negligible number of views.

So, in a way, the "death" of Top Trending will help artists continue to be creative and be recognized appropriately. In addition, YouTube Charts will still be present, somewhat reflecting the popularity or prominence of a product in a more accurate and timely manner.
