Betrayal is an incredibly painful experience and one that none of us would want to go through. Whether it happens because of a lack of love or a lack of trust, it is the fastest way to break up a marriage.

A man recently discovered his wife's secret and he could not forgive her.

Man's marriage seemed to be extremely happy over the years.

Man (43 years old) and his wife (44 years old) have been married for 20 years. The man told his story on Reddit, as a confession, not as a request for advice.

They both spent a year at community college, then went to college in the same city. After a long-distance relationship, they moved in together. The couple married the summer after Man graduated from college. For two decades, they were very happy and harmonious. Until a terrible secret was revealed at a dinner with friends.

One day, right after Christmas, the couple decided to hang out with some friends from college. While together, they talked about many things, and Man and her husband even reminisced about their school days. Her college roommate commented that she couldn't believe that the two of them could be together for so long. Even Man and her husband felt that their love was magical, in addition to 20 years of marriage, they had known each other and dated for quite a while.

The roommates started to talk about the past, but Man’s wife suddenly interrupted and said she was uncomfortable about it. All of Man’s friends fell silent and the rest of the dinner was awkward. On the way out, one of her other roommates pulled Man aside and advised him to “talk straight” about what happened at the University.

He asked his wife on the way home and she completely shocked him. She said that the details of their college life were not important. When the couple got home, Man told his wife that he would stay at his brother's house until she was ready to tell him what had happened at college.

The next day, Man’s wife admitted that she had cheated on her husband with “several” men during their first two years of college. She said that at the time she didn’t think it was a big deal because they lived far apart. She also thought their college romance wouldn’t last. Man pressed her further and his wife said there were at least 10 different men, including 3 guys she introduced as friends when he visited her on weekends and 1 guy she was still in contact with. Man immediately decided to file for divorce and planned to start the paperwork as soon as possible.

Many people advised Man to calm down because even if his wife cheated, it was in the past. But this man believes that it is unacceptable for his wife to cheat on him with multiple men over many years, regardless of when it happened. And it is disrespectful for her to continue to maintain relationships with these guys right in front of him.

The couple have two children, aged 17 and 19. So Man is sure the kids will understand why he needed to end the marriage.

The story is really heartbreaking. Even though the affair is in the past, the past is still hard to accept. So, whether you are a man or a woman, whether you are in love or married, do not think that if you have an affair skillfully, no one will know. Because most likely, your secret will be revealed after many years, when you have a whole family in your hands, the pain will be multiplied.
