Long Dat district was established on the basis of merging the entire natural area of ​​77.67 km2 and the population of 155,438 people of Long Dien district and the entire natural area of ​​189.74 km2 and the population of 86,063 people of Dat Do district. After establishment, Long Dat district had a natural area of ​​267.42 km2 and a population of 241,501 people.

Long Dat district borders Chau Duc district, Xuyen Moc district, Ba Ria city, Vung Tau city and the East Sea.

Tam An commune was established on the basis of merging the entire natural area of ​​5.98 km2 and the population of 4,706 people of An Nhut commune, the entire natural area of ​​17.39 km2 and the population of 9,457 people of An Ngai commune and the entire natural area of ​​13.75 km2 and the population of 8,470 people of Tam Phuoc commune. Merge the entire natural area of ​​18.15 km2 and the population of 4,785 people of Loc An commune into Phuoc Hoi commune. After merging, Phuoc Hoi commune has a natural area of ​​40.82 km2 and a population of 12,395 people.

Phuoc Hoi commune borders Phuoc Long Tho commune, Lang Dai commune, Dat Do town, Phuoc Hai town; Xuyen Moc district and Bien Dong;
