On April 30, Hai Duong completed the dossier and sent it to the Ministry of Home Affairs for appraisal of the Project on rearranging commune-level administrative units in Hai Duong province and related contents of the Project on merging Hai Duong province and Hai Phong city according to the required schedule.
The Ministry of Home Affairs will base on the project dossiers of the provinces and cities to appraise, synthesize and develop a common project during the holiday period (from April 30 to May 4) to promptly complete the dossier to submit to the Government for submission to the National Assembly Standing Committee.
Previously, Chairman of Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee Le Ngoc Chau decided to establish a Standing Team to exchange information and content related to the project of arranging administrative units during the holiday from April 30 to May 4, with Director of the Department of Home Affairs Sai Thi Yen as the team leader to promptly exchange information when requested by the Central Government.
On the morning of April 28, the Provincial Party Committee and People's Council of Hai Duong province approved the policy of merging Hai Duong province and Hai Phong city, naming Hai Phong city based on the original natural area and population of Hai Duong province and the natural area and population of Hai Phong city. The meeting approved the policy of rearranging the commune-level administrative units of Hai Duong province to 43 communes and 21 wards, a reduction of 143 units compared to the present.
After the Provincial People's Council issued the resolution, the Hai Duong Department of Home Affairs coordinated to complete the dossier and submit it to the Provincial People's Committee to report to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
