Working group to survey progress

Thu Thiem urban area and urban renovation project

The delegation also surveyed the progress of the Thu Thiem New Urban Area. This area is in the process of adjusting its planning, while compensation, resettlement and investment in technical infrastructure are being actively implemented. The city is also promoting investment projects, including the construction of an international financial center.

Next, the delegation visited the South Bank of the Double Canal project . This is one of the key projects in the Urban Remodeling and Relocation Project on and along the canals of Ho Chi Minh City. According to Mr. Pham Minh Man - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, the city is striving to complete the goal of relocating 40,000 houses along the canals from now until 2030. This is a big challenge, because in the previous 40 years, only about 40,000 houses were relocated.

Mr. Vu Hong Thanh - Vice Chairman of the National Assembly acknowledged the city's efforts and emphasized the need to complete the legal basis, create consensus among the people, ensure livelihoods and social security for displaced people. To implement this project, Ho Chi Minh City plans to spend more than 200,000 billion VND, of which District 8 alone, which was selected for the pilot, needs more than 100,000 billion VND to relocate nearly 15,000 houses.
