At 1:00 a.m. this morning (September 19), Ngoi Mong bridge on provincial road 445 connecting Ky Son ward to Hop Thanh commune (Hoa Binh city) sank and at 4:00 a.m. the same day, the bridge head collapsed.
Previously, due to the impact of storm No. 3 and the storm's circulation, authorities had put up warning ropes, prohibiting people and vehicles from traveling on the bridge. At the time of the bridge collapse, there were no casualties or damage to vehicles.
Immediately after the incident, Hoa Binh City Police diverted traffic and closed the road to the bridge to ensure public safety.
Ngoi Mong Bridge is about 30m long, 4.5m wide, built a long time ago with steel beams, no central pillars, only 2 abutments on both sides. The bridge serves the people's daily life, mainly motorbikes, cars, etc.
