China's National People's Congress headquarters in Beijing
According to Xinhua News Agency, the seventh session of the 14th National People's Congress Standing Committee concluded on the afternoon of December 29 at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
At the end, the Standing Committee announced the dismissal of seven generals but did not give any reasons.
Among the generals dismissed were four from the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Rocket Force.
Another is Lieutenant General Zhang Zhenzhong, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Joint Staff Department of the Central Military Commission of China.
Lieutenant General Zhang Yulin, deputy director of the Chinese military's General Department of Armaments Development, was also dismissed in the latest reshuffle.
The Standing Committee also decided to revoke the related positions of the above 7 generals.
Also during this period, on December 29, China announced the appointment of Senior General Dong Jun to the position of Chinese Minister of National Defense, replacing his predecessor, General Li Shangfu, who previously held this position.
Before taking up the ministerial position, General Dong Jun was Commander of the Chinese Navy.
As of now, the National People's Congress of China has 2,966 delegates.
