National Assembly approves appointment of 2 Supreme People's Court judges

On the afternoon of November 28, at the 8th Session, the 15th National Assembly conducted the process of approving the proposal of the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court on the appointment of Supreme People's Court Judges.

The press release of the Secretary General of the National Assembly said that the National Assembly voted to pass the Resolution approving the proposal of the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court on the appointment of Supreme People's Court Judges Nguyen Quoc Doan and Le Tien by electronic voting.

As a result, 451 delegates participated in the vote (equal to 94.15% of the total number of National Assembly delegates), 448 delegates approved (equal to 93.53% of the total number of National Assembly delegates), 1 delegate did not approve (equal to 0.21% of the total number of National Assembly delegates), and 2 delegates did not vote (equal to 0.42% of the total number of National Assembly delegates).

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Doan was born in 1975, his hometown is Ninh Binh. He is a member of the 13th Party Central Committee and has a PhD in Law.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Doan has held the following positions: Deputy Commander of the Mobile Police Command (Ministry of Public Security); Director of Thua Thien-Hue Provincial Police; Deputy Secretary and then Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Thua Thien-Hue Provincial Party Committee. Since July 2021, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Doan has been Secretary of the Lang Son Provincial Party Committee.

Mr. Le Tien was born in 1969 and has worked in the prosecution industry for a long time. From April 1, 2020, Mr. Le Tien was seconded to hold the position of Chief Prosecutor of Da Nang City People's Procuracy for a period of 3 years.

Mr. Le Tien is currently the Head of Department 10 (Department of Supervision of the settlement of administrative cases, commercial and labor cases and other matters as prescribed by law), Supreme People's Procuracy.

According to the Law on Organization of People's Courts, the number of members of the Supreme People's Court Judicial Council is no less than 13 and no more than 17, including the Chief Justice, Deputy Chief Justices of the Supreme People's Court who are Judges of the Supreme People's Court and Judges of the Supreme People's Court.

Currently, the Supreme People's Court's Judicial Council has 15 members. With the National Assembly's approval of the appointment of the above two personnel, the Supreme People's Court's Judicial Council has 17 members.
