On August 22, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Ngai province issued report No. 2223/BC-SNNMT on the disease situation in livestock and treatment solutions.

According to reports, within just 3 days, from August 19 to 21, African swine fever continued to arise, forcing authorities and people to destroy 2,970 pigs.

Specifically, the number of pigs infected with African swine fever was detected in the pig herds of 243 households, in 22 communes and wards in the province. Since July 1, the epidemic has occurred in the pig herds of more than 10,000 households, in 59 communes, wards and special zones.

Currently, there are 7 communes, wards and special zones that have gone 21 days without any new cases of diseased animals, namely Son Tay Ha, Son Tay Thuong, Nguyen Nghiem, Cam Thanh, Sa Loong, Dong Tra Bong communes and Ly Son special zone.

Currently, in the province, there are still 52 communes and wards with African swine fever that have not passed 21 days and are continuing to implement epidemic prevention measures; in which, in 5 communes and wards, namely Son Tinh, Nghia Giang, Ve Giang, Nghia Hanh and Dinh Cuong, the epidemic is still relatively complicated, the agricultural sector is urgently coordinating with localities to drastically implement prevention measures, in order to soon control the outbreaks.

According to the assessment of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Ngai province, the current weather situation in Quang Ngai province is still quite complicated, directly affecting the resistance of livestock and increasing the risk of outbreak and spread of dangerous diseases, especially African swine fever.

In addition, the number of households raising livestock on a household scale is still large; livestock barns are arranged close to houses and roads; livestock barn conditions are still limited and do not meet biosafety farming conditions, making it difficult to implement disease prevention measures.

Faced with that situation, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Ngai province has directed the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine to continue sending specialized civil servants to coordinate with localities to organize inspections.

At the same time, guide localities to proactively implement epidemic prevention measures according to regulations; promptly distribute vaccines and chemicals to localities to implement epidemic prevention measures.

In particular, direct Animal Quarantine Stations at traffic hubs to strengthen coordination with forces to inspect the transportation of animals and animal products in and out of the area and strengthen inspection and control of the transportation of animals and animal products in the area.

According to statistics, due to the rapid and widespread spread of African swine fever, localities in the province have destroyed more than 70,000 infected pigs, used nearly 8,200 liters of chemicals and used 214 tons of lime powder for disinfection and detoxification./.
