Quang Nam honors two students who won gold medals at the 2025 International Math Olympiad

(QNO) - On the morning of April 29, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province held a ceremony to honor two students Nguyen Tri Hau and Nguyen Tri Hien (grade 11 specialized in Mathematics, Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted) for winning gold medals at the 2025 International Math Olympiad held in Turkmenistan.

Attending the commendation ceremony were Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet; Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Dung; Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee and representatives of leaders of agencies and units.

The 2nd International Mathematical Olympiad was held in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan; bringing together more than 230 students from 15 countries, including countries with strong traditions in Mathematics such as China, Russia, Bulgaria, Türkiye, Uzbekistan and the host country Turkmenistan.

The Vietnamese delegation participated in the exam with 6 students, all of whom had high achievements in the national Olympic team selection exam (ranked from 7th to 12th).

The competition took place at two levels, A and B, seriously and professionally under the close supervision of the International Jury. As a result, the Organizing Committee awarded 101 medals and valuable prizes.

Of these, 6 Vietnamese students all won gold medals. The two representatives of Quang Nam participating in the competition, Nguyen Tri Hau and Nguyen Tri Hien, both achieved the highest scores in the Vietnamese delegation with 40/50 points.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Thai Viet Tuong - Director of the Department of Education and Training emphasized that today's achievement is not only the pride of the family and the school but also a vivid proof of the sustainable development of Quang Nam's education. Nguyen Tri Hau and Nguyen Tri Hien have affirmed the capacity, courage and outstanding efforts of the new generation of students, bringing the image of Quang Nam to the international level.

“With dedication and a systematic training strategy, Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted continues to make its mark in national and international student achievements, actively contributing to the development of high-quality human resources for the province,” said Mr. Thai Viet Tuong.

At the ceremony, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Dung affirmed that this is a great joy for the Party Committee, government and people of Quang Nam province. The achievements of the two students continue to affirm the tradition of studiousness of their homeland Quang Nam. This is also a valuable asset for them to continue on the path of knowledge, at the same time opening up new expectations for the young generation of the province.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Dung also acknowledged and praised the efforts of the education sector, the teachers of Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted, and the silent sacrifices of parents, which have contributed to giving wings to young talents to shine.

Sharing at the commendation ceremony, Nguyen Tri Hau expressed his sincere thanks to the leaders, teachers, family and friends who have always stood by him, encouraged him and created the best conditions for him to participate in the exam.

“The days of studying and competing in Turkmenistan will always be unforgettable memories. Even though we are in a foreign land, we always carry in our hearts the image of our beloved homeland, Vietnam, Quang Nam. Today's success is the beginning of a long journey ahead, and we vow to do our best to become useful citizens, contributing to our homeland and country,” Hau expressed.

On this occasion, Nguyen Tri Hau and Nguyen Tri Hien received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with a bonus of 150 million VND each to recognize their outstanding achievements.

The Provincial Youth Union also awarded Certificates of Merit to commend the two students' efforts in studying; the Provincial Association for Promotion of Education sent gifts of encouragement; the Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board presented two laptops to support the students' studies.
