The contest is chaired by the Central Propaganda Department; Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists (VAPA) in coordination with a number of departments, ministries and branches to create a widespread movement in the creation of artistic photography. Thereby contributing to the practical propaganda of the 80th Anniversary of the Founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024), the 35th Anniversary of National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024) and other major anniversaries of the country.

The contest is open to all Vietnamese citizens aged 15 and over, both domestic and foreign, and foreigners working and living in Vietnam. The creative space includes 25 provinces with land borders between Vietnam - Laos, Vietnam - China, Vietnam - Cambodia such as: Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Kon Tum, Dak Lak, Tay Ninh, Long An, Dong Thap...

The participating works introduce the beauty of the homeland, country, and people in the border areas on land; reflect the real and vivid life, activities, and work of our people in the border localities; images and activities demonstrating the achievements of the renovation and international integration in the process of building and defending the Fatherland in the border areas of our country; historical - cultural - human values, the beauty of natural landscapes stretching along the land border of Vietnam, exchanges and cooperation in the fields of economy, society, culture, national defense, security, and foreign affairs of the border provinces; reflect the exploitation and development of tourism potential in the border provinces, tourists explore, experience, and immerse themselves in the lives of people in the border areas...

The work "Happy Khmer Water Festival in the South" by author Nguyen Hoang Nam (An Giang) won the Gold Prize in the "Pride of a Border" contest in 2022.

The total prize value of the contest is 210 million VND. The best authors and works have the opportunity to receive prizes including: 02 First prizes worth 20,000,000 VND/prize; 04 Second prizes worth 15,000,000 VND/prize; 06 Third prizes worth 10,000,000 VND/prize and 10 Encouragement prizes worth 5,000,000 VND/prize.

Contest photos must be color or black and white, created from 2022 to present. Each author can submit up to 10 works to the contest (both single photos and photo series). The deadline for receiving works is from now until August 15, 2024.
