On August 22, Vice Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Khac Hieu chaired a conference to listen to the Department of Education and Training report on resolving difficulties and problems in vocational education and continuing education in the province.

Phu Tho currently has 51 vocational training institutions including: 21 colleges, 12 secondary schools and 18 vocational training centers. In addition, there are 29 vocational training centers and continuing education centers that organize vocational training. The training scale in 2025 will reach nearly 51,550 students.

Regarding the network and scale of university education and teacher training, the province has 4 universities, 1 teacher training college training in preschool education and 1 Central Ethnic University Preparatory School.

By 2025, the training scale will be over 35,550 students.

After the merger, the whole province has 33 Vocational Education and Continuing Education Centers. In the 2025-2026 school year, it is expected to organize about 720 classes with nearly 29,800 students.

Of which, 11 centers are linked with 19 colleges and intermediate schools, organizing 234 classes for over 9,110 students.

The centers annually attract over 14% of secondary school graduates, contributing significantly to the streamlining work.

According to the report of the Department of Education and Training of Phu Tho at the conference, in recent times, the scale and network of vocational education, university education and continuing education systems have been widely distributed, initially forming a network associated with the socio -economic development needs of the new province.

The merger of the three provinces facilitates comprehensive review and restructuring, and improves operational efficiency.

The staff, teachers and lecturers basically meet the requirements in terms of quantity and qualifications; facilities are gradually improved.

However, the biggest difficulties and problems of the post-merger vocational education, continuing education and university education systems are small-scale training, overlapping occupations; key occupations have not been promoted; many businesses use unskilled labor; and the connection between schools and businesses is still weak.

In addition, facilities and equipment are mostly outdated and degraded; financial autonomy is low; social mobilization is limited; and there is a lack of breakthrough mechanisms to support development.

Retraining and development work has not met the requirements of career change and digital transformation...
