(HTV) - On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy visited and paid tribute to outstanding cadres, soldiers and historical witnesses in District 12.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy led a delegation to visit and pay tribute to the cadres, soldiers and typical historical witnesses who directly participated in the Great Victory of Spring 1975, currently living in District 12.

The delegation visited the family of Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Thuy - one of the people who participated in the resistance war and is still actively contributing to local movements. Here, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy kindly asked about her health, sent congratulations on the occasion of the anniversary of the country's reunification, and expressed her wish that she would continue to promote the revolutionary spirit, stay involved in community activities, and contribute to the common development of the locality and the city.

Continuing the program, the delegation went to Trung My Tay ward to visit Mr. Mai Hong Luyen - who directly participated in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, currently working in Ward 14. The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee expressed his deep gratitude for his great contributions to the cause of national liberation; at the same time, wished him and his family good health, and continued to accompany the local government in the work of building and improving the lives of people in the area.

In particular, the delegation also visited Mr. Le Manh Huong - former reconnaissance officer of the Southeast Reconnaissance Battalion. During the campaign to capture Phuoc Long, he and his comrades carried out the task of diversion, distracting the enemy, contributing to creating conditions for the main force to win. Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy expressed her admiration for the bravery, intelligence and sacrifice of the previous generation. She affirmed that the current and future generations will always cherish, preserve and promote the noble values ​​that the Vietnamese army and people have fostered in the journey to fight for independence and freedom for the nation.

The visit and gratitude activities not only demonstrate the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" but also are an opportunity to spread the revolutionary spirit, foster patriotism among all classes of people, especially the young generation of Ho Chi Minh City today.
