On July 14, the Vietnam Cinema Association held a press conference to announce the 2023 Golden Kite Awards. The award ceremony will take place from September 6-9, and the location will continue to be the coastal city of Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa).

After 19 years of establishment and gradually affirming its position, the Golden Kite Award has carried out its mission of honoring cinema and television works, film criticism and theoretical research works, and outstanding authors, artists, and filmmakers.

In this 20th organization, besides the award ceremony on the evening of September 9, Golden Kite 2023 will have many sideline activities to elevate its position to become a national film - tourism festival.

According to information from the Organizing Committee, as of July 15, 2023, there have been 11 films registered to participate in the Cinema category. Notable names include Sister Sister 2, You and Trinh, Super Lieu Meets Super Luan, Muoi: The Curse Returns... In the previous season, the winner of this category was the work Dem Toi Ruc Roc.

In the TV Drama category, there are 17 films participating, with a total of 611 episodes. The list includes films shown in VTV's prime time slot such as Happy Garage, Under the Shade of a Happy Tree, Straw Mother, Are You a Man, Don't Say When You Love, Don't Make Me Angry, Battle of Minds and Justice Journey. Last year, this award went to two VFC films: Love on the Sunny Days (Part 1) and 11 Thang 5 Ngay.

This year’s Red Carpet Event and Golden Kite Awards Ceremony will be held at the Do Theater, Nha Trang. With a total area of ​​2,500m2 including 536 seats, the Do Theater is considered a new international-class cultural and artistic center in this coastal city.

In an effort to renew the Golden Kite Awards, this is the second year the awards are held in Nha Trang after 18 years of rotating in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The Cinema Association also actively participates in cultural activities with the aim of contributing to promoting socio-economic development. Therefore, during the week of the Golden Kite Awards 2023, a series of cultural, artistic, cinematic and tourism events will be held.

In particular, the Vietnam Cinema Association will organize the appraisal and evaluation of cinematographic works, television dramas, short films, animations, documentaries, science, theoretical research works, and film criticism to compete in the 2023 competition through the activities of the Jury Council, consisting of 6 Sub-committees.

Next, an outdoor cinema route is designed along Nha Trang beach with 20 screening points for feature films, documentaries, science, animations, and short films that have won the Golden Kite Award, combining artist and public exchanges. In addition, films participating in the Golden Kite 2023 will be screened at cinema complexes in Nha Trang to serve the audience.

A special feature in the series of activities related to cinema is the discussion "What solutions to awaken the billion-dollar industry" , with the participation of dialogue and discussion of experts and prestigious filmmakers on "hot" issues of Vietnamese cinema, aiming to contribute ideas to build the National Cinema Development Program associated with Tourism.

The 2023 Golden Kite is also expecting the participation of domestic and international artists from the US, Korea, India... including actor Ajay Singh Chaudhary - a famous Indian Bollywood star who will appear on the red carpet of the awards night.

Mr. Do Lenh Hung Tu - Chairman of the Vietnam Cinema Association - emphasized that the 2023 Golden Kite Awards is not only a festival for artists, filmmakers, and audiences who love the 7th art across the country, but also actively contributes to promoting the image and tourism potential of the locality.
