Nowadays, in public places, it is rare to see people holding books attentively reading. Instead, many people cannot take their eyes off the phones in their hands. Mr. Le Hoang Nam (residing in My Phuoc ward, Long Xuyen city) shared: “Through many sources of information and documents on the Internet, everyone can easily update their knowledge. However, the appeal and attraction of a book lies in the content of ideas and knowledge contained within. This is the factor that determines the position of books compared to other audio and visual media. I find that knowledge from books is still more in-depth, because the content is compiled and published carefully. What is special is that when we get used to reading books and find the good things that books bring, we will be “addicted” to books”.
Building a learning society and lifelong learning is always associated with a reading culture, which is considered an urgent task with strategic and long-term significance. Therefore, forming a reading habit in each person always takes time and requires guidance from the family and school from a young age. Ms. Nguyen Thanh Thuy (My Xuyen ward, Long Xuyen city) shared: “My husband and I share a passion for reading, so we want to train our two children to have a reading habit. Every week, the family goes to the bookstore together, using books as gifts whenever the children do good deeds or achieve high academic achievements.”
Reading books in the traditional way has its own cultural and knowledge value.
