Vietnam team and the 3rd AFF Cup championship trophy in history

Overview of the meeting Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulates the Vietnamese football team on winning the 2024 ASEAN Cup.

Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, Standing member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu and leaders of the Party and State, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated and thanked the team, generations of players, coaches and members of the Vietnamese team for bringing home a glorious victory, contributing to a top-notch, dramatic match between the two strongest teams in Southeast Asia.

The Prime Minister shared: “This is the first time we have brought the regional championship trophy back to the country from abroad; the team ended the tournament with 7 wins, 1 draw and undefeated, setting a record for the number of wins at the ASEAN Cup, in the 29-year history of the tournament, no team has done this. The team ended the AFF Cup 2024 with 21 goals, this is the best achievement in the history of participating in the tournament. For the first time, Vietnam has a player winning both the top scorer and best player titles of the tournament (player Nguyen Xuan Son). Goalkeeper Dinh Trieu of the Vietnam team also won the title of best goalkeeper of the tournament.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the results achieved were thanks to the investment and attention of the Party, the State and the People, and the efforts of the Vietnamese sports industry; along with the utmost efforts of the entire team through many years of attachment, training and the love and companionship of the fans. The Prime Minister hopes and believes that this victory of the team will create motivation and inspiration for everyone to continue to turn difficulties and challenges into opportunities to overcome themselves in all areas.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh awarded the First Class Labor Medal to the team and the Third Class Labor Medal to the players.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, presented the First Class Labor Medal to the team. Players Nguyen Xuan Son, Do Duy Manh, Nguyen Quang Hai, Nguyen Tien Linh, Nguyen Hoang Duc, and Nguyen Dinh Trieu were awarded the Third Class Labor Medal by the President.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh awarded Certificates of Merit to individuals with outstanding achievements.

In recognition of the excellent performance of the Men's Football team, the Prime Minister also awarded Certificates of Merit to 29 individuals of the team with outstanding achievements.

On this occasion, on behalf of more than 60,000 oil and gas workers, Petrovietnam General Director Le Ngoc Son presented 2 billion VND to the Vietnam National Football Team to encourage and express gratitude for the players' tireless efforts throughout the tournament, bringing beautiful matches to the audience.
