Sharing the message in FPT Corporation's 2024 annual report, Mr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the corporation, said that 26 years ago, FPT was like a lone bird on its journey to export software, stepping out into the world with little capital and inexperience. But now, facing the opportunities of AI and semiconductors, FPT is not going alone - Vietnam is ready.

FPT will continue to innovate, promote cooperation with businesses on a global scale, invest heavily in research, develop new technologies, high-quality human resources, M&A... to increase capacity, affirm its position to bring the most value to shareholders, and bring happiness to the community.

Vietnam faces unprecedented opportunities

In a message to shareholders, Mr. Truong Gia Binh said we are living in an era of rapid technological change, where great technological breakthroughs are reshaping the world.

"On the first day of the new year, when DeepSeek with its low-cost AI model created a global earthquake, I saw an unprecedented opportunity for Vietnam. We are behind but have the opportunity to affirm our pioneering position and explore new heights," he said.

FPT Chairman said that last year, the corporation has focused on investing in AI research and made important strides in both infrastructure and AI ecosystem development. In particular, FPT has cooperated with Nvidia to build two AI factories in Vietnam and Japan, providing superior computing infrastructure and necessary applications to create breakthroughs in developing AI solutions.

Previously, the group joined hands with the world's AI masters such as Director of the Mila Research Institute, Professor Yoshua Bengio - one of the world's 4 AI "godfathers"; invested in Landing AI founded by the head of computer vision Andrew Ng.

In the semiconductor sector, FPT has entered deeper into the value chain with an order of 70 million chips.

In the field of digital car technology, the group has worked directly with the world's Tier 1 company in the meter/HUD segment (meter is a display clock, and HUD is a display screen on the windshield) for cars and motorbikes.

In the semiconductor sector, Mr. Binh said the world's leading corporations are looking to Vietnam to expand their supply chains, with more than 174 FDI projects in the industry, with a total registered capital of nearly 11.6 billion USD.

"Seizing this opportunity, FPT focuses on developing human resources towards the goal of 10,000 semiconductor engineers by 2030. At the same time, FPT continues to participate more deeply in the global supply chain not only in design but also in important stages such as packaging and testing; researching and deploying smart semiconductor chips and AI chips," the Chairman shared.

In the field of digital car technology, electric cars are expected to reach 6,800 billion USD by 2033, with an average growth of 6.7%/year. FPT founder believes that the shift to electric cars opens up great opportunities for technology companies, including FPT.

Goal of training 1 million AI Agents, 50,000 AI engineers

Regarding AI, Mr. Truong Gia Binh said that AI is predicted to be the lever to increase global GDP by 14% by 2030, equivalent to about 15,700 billion USD. In particular, AI assistants (AI Agents) perform tasks by themselves; hyper-personalization with different experiences; proactive cybersecurity predicts and prevents risks early; quantum artificial intelligence accelerates data processing, solves complex problems and transforms human behavior, changing the way people interact, work and make decisions.

In that context, FPT aims to train 1 million AI Agents, helping each citizen and each customer have a "digital assistant", increasing productivity and efficiency in all work. "AI will be integrated into all Made by FPT products and services", he shared.

Regarding human resources, Vietnam's largest technology group also committed to training 50,000 AI engineers, providing AI skills and knowledge to about 500,000 employees by 2030.

"I remember nearly 37 years ago, when I returned to Vietnam, the country was still poor, with double-digit inflation and no opportunities for a technology company. But with a big dream and fearless steps, we together built FPT from nothing to a global corporation. Today, with a stronger aspiration than the first day, FPT is embarking on a new great journey - conquering the era of AI and semiconductors," Mr. Truong Gia Binh emphasized.

According to the Chairman of FPT Board of Directors, looking at the rise of DeepSeek - a small but powerful model that has shaken the world, it can be seen that opportunities are not for those who hesitate.

In 2025 and the coming years, FPT plans to continue to persistently exploit opportunities from the five keywords AI - Sales - Vehicles - Digital - Green, contributing to bringing Vietnam into the era of national development.

Speaking at the annual shareholders’ meeting on April 15, Mr. Binh also said that challenges from new tariff policies could disrupt the global supply chain. Meanwhile, the speed of policy change in many countries is too fast, making it difficult for businesses to adapt in time.

However, he emphasized that Vietnam's opportunities are huge despite the difficulties of the general context.

"Vietnam can rise to the ranks of the most advanced nations in the world, with everyone having a prosperous and happy life," emphasized the Chairman of FPT.
