The Blue Mountains woman went to a restaurant in Penrith, Australia on November 10 to enjoy dinner with her husband and son. She wanted to have a happy dinner with her family but the unexpected incident left her in shock.

"Within seconds of the steak hitting the table, I noticed something was wrong. When I looked closely, I noticed something was moving," she shared.

She ordered a steak for $42. Her husband initially thought it might be seasoning, but upon closer inspection, they realized it was maggots.

The staff confirmed that the maggots did not come from the steak, but possibly from a nearby salad. The staff also reassured the female diner that the restaurant had a high ranking in food safety rankings, according to ABC News .

The staff offered to replace her with another plate of food, but she refused. "I said I can't eat here anymore, I just want to leave," she said.

The restaurant said that immediately after receiving the complaint, an environmental health officer conducted a food safety inspection of the restaurant the following morning. The minutes showed that the inspection did not reveal anything of concern.

They also confirmed that the meat was stored in a sealed bag and the salad in a sealed container, with no possibility of contamination during processing.

The woman said that after this incident, she felt very uncomfortable and scared. "I just want an apology for what I went through. This experience made me feel insecure and scared," she shared.
