Thai cabinet formed in 3 weeks

According to the Bangkok Post, Secretary General of the ruling Pheu Thai Party in Thailand, Mr. Sorawong Thienthong, said that the time to form a new cabinet will be within 3 weeks from when Prime Minister -elect Paetongtarn Shinawatra receives royal approval.

The new prime minister can then form a new cabinet and submit it for royal endorsement. The new leader will also present the government 's policies to the House of Commons, which the constitution requires to be done within 15 days of being sworn in.

According to caretaker Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai, Prime Minister-elect Paetongtarn will have the legal right and obligation to make political decisions and hold discussions with coalition partners to determine what is still appropriate in the current context. Therefore, ministerial positions in the new cabinet may not be subject to the previous quotas since the previous administration has ended.

Meanwhile, caretaker Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, head of the Thai Pride (Bhumjaithai) party, the second-largest partner in the ruling coalition, said the party had informed the coalition leadership that it would not propose any changes to the party's current positions, including four ministerial posts and four deputy ministerial posts.
