Repair even small damage

On June 26, Giao thong Newspaper reporters were present at Km14+400, National Highway 7B (in Xuan Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, Nghe An province).

According to records, many workers and machines of 268 Hung Nguyen Construction Joint Stock Company are constructing the drainage system.

Workers construct drainage ditches at Km14+400, QL7B

QL7B is an important traffic route, connecting QL1 with QL7A, intersecting many provincial roads and running through the center of Yen Thanh district, so the traffic volume of people and vehicles is very large.

While the road is under construction and in operation, thanks to the scientific organization of construction and the serious attention and implementation of traffic safety work at the construction site, there is no congestion or jamming.

Worker Nguyen Van Nguyen shared: "Right from the beginning of the project to repair the drainage system on National Highway 7B, the company has understood that National Highway 7B is a key traffic route of Nghe An province. The system of ditches on both sides of the road will help drain water on the road surface and from residential areas, thereby contributing to increasing the life of the road.

Understanding the nature and characteristics of the project, all workers focused on construction, speeding up progress and ensuring project quality.

Engineer Hoang Van Can, technical officer of Construction Joint Stock Company 268 Hung Nguyen added: "The winning bidder will construct the drainage ditch and reinforce the shoulder from Km13+900 to Km14+600, National Highway 7B. The project will start in May 2024 and according to the contract will be completed in early October 2024."

“As soon as we received the site, the company mobilized a lot of machinery and equipment to start construction. There were always 2 tire loaders, 5 transport vehicles, 1 self-propelled crane, and 20 workers on site. Up to now, the drainage structure has been completely cast; the construction and installation work is only 200m away. The project is expected to be completed in July, 2 months ahead of schedule,” said engineer Can, adding:

The drainage system repair project on National Highway 7B is expected to be completed by September 30, 2024.

Technically, this project is not difficult, the company has carried out larger and more difficult projects. However, due to the nature of the route passing through a residential area, digging trenches to place components will affect people's travel. Especially underground, there are many cable, electricity and water pipe systems, so before implementation, it is necessary to conduct a thorough survey, and the construction process must be very careful. The company's guiding principle is to complete the work as it is done.

Mr. Tran Ngoc Quynh - Head of Maintenance Department 1, Nghe An Road Maintenance Management Board added: The drainage system repair project of sections Km3+300 - Km4+00 (Left); Km3+100 - Km3+300 (Right); Km7+300 - Km8+00 (Left+Right); Km9+322 - Km10+513.44 (Left); Km9+322 - Km10+514.71 (Right); Km13+900 - Km14+050 (Right); Km13+900 - Km14+600 (Left), National Highway 7B is divided into 3 large sections.

The construction contractor is a joint venture of Bac Trung Nam - Thai Anh Thanh - 268 Hung Nguyen and will start construction on May 7, 2024 and complete on October 0, 2024 (150 days).

Up to now, the contractors have completed 65% of the contracted volume of longitudinal drainage ditches, ensuring the set schedule and ensuring the quality of the project. The Board is currently directing the contractor to focus on human resources and equipment to complete the remaining volume by September 30, 2024 to hand over the project for operation and use, ensuring the contract's progress.

Concentrate human resources and machinery ahead of schedule

It is known that in addition to the above project, in the past time, Nghe An Road Maintenance Management Board is also implementing 2 other projects: Repairing damaged roadbed, road surface, drainage system and traffic safety on sections of National Highway 7C and National Highway 15.

Vehicles can move conveniently and safely on Highway 7C, which has just been resurfaced.

“These are routes with very high traffic volume, especially heavy trucks. Meanwhile, both routes were invested in and built many years ago, many sections have been degraded. To ensure traffic safety as well as effective exploitation, the department has directed the implementation of repairs as soon as minor damage occurs on the route,” Mr. Quynh said, adding:

The secret to shortening the progress as well as improving the quality of the project is that, even though the project is small, the selection of contractors is carried out seriously and carefully. The contractors are all capable and have modern equipment lines.

Giang Son Company has participated in many large projects of the Ministry of Transport, including the North-South Expressway, Nghi Son - Dien Chau section. This contractor also has a paving station and raw material source near the project.

During the construction process, flexible measures and methods of construction organization are applied, combined with the application of science and technology. Supervision and acceptance work is carried out seriously and scientifically.

Mr. Phan Hai Chau, Deputy Director of Nghe An Road Maintenance Management Board, added: For the project to repair damaged roadbed, road surface, drainage system and traffic safety of sections Km21+300 - Km21+800; Km22+00 - Km23+00; Km23+600 - Km24+100; Km41+800 - Km42+600, National Highway 7C, the contractor has completed the road surface paving.

The board is currently directing contractors to mobilize maximum human resources and machinery to complete the items by the end of July 2024, 2 months ahead of the contract schedule.

Similarly, the project to repair damaged roadbeds and surfaces, complete drainage systems, and traffic safety at Km286+600 – Km288+600; and repair expansion joints of Ba Ra Bridge at Km286+818, National Highway 15 has also been completed and is expected to be completed by July 15, 2024, 20 days ahead of schedule.

National Highway 15 through Do Luong town has a very large volume of people and vehicles, repairing the road surface contributes to ensuring traffic safety.

According to research, recently, the management of traffic infrastructure in Nghe An has been strengthened with many synchronous solutions to improve the efficiency of exploiting the traffic infrastructure system.

Specifically, Nghe An Department of Transport has issued over 200 documents to direct, guide and urge the management of traffic infrastructure.

Strengthen regular maintenance work on routes, focus on directing the handling and repair of damaged locations; speed up the progress and improve the quality of periodic repair works on entrusted national highways and provincial roads, ensuring convenient and safe travel for people, especially during the Lunar New Year and Spring Festival in 2024.

In the first 6 months of 2024, the budget for management and maintenance of roads managed by Nghe An Department of Transport is estimated at 60.6 billion VND. Currently, the department is focusing on directing the acceleration of construction progress of periodic repair works on national highways and organizing bidding for periodic repair works on provincial roads.

In addition, the management of traffic safety corridors is always focused on and directed regularly and continuously.

Efforts to upgrade and repair to optimize the exploitation efficiency of roads in Nghe An

By the end of June 2024, Nghe An Road Maintenance Management Board had disbursed over 50% of the total capital of over 390 billion VND allocated in 2024 to carry out regular repair projects, periodic repairs, emergency repairs, and flood recovery on the assigned roads.

Up to now, Nghe An Department of Transport has managed 49 roads with a total length of nearly 1,800km (including 8 national highways and 41 provincial roads); 8 inland waterways with a total length of 262.6km (including 4 central river routes and 4 local river routes). The management of many routes spread over an area of more than 16,490 km2 - the largest in the country, including many routes that have been invested in and built for a long time, many locations have degraded after decades of exploitation... Therefore, maintenance and repair work has encountered many difficulties.
