According to Gaming Bolt , 2023 will be the seventh year that the Nintendo Switch has been struggling in the video game market, at this stage, many people think that the device is in a 'old' state and sales momentum has also decreased more. However, everything seems to be completely opposite, when the Switch is very popular in the home market.
Switch shows signs of better business in the Japanese market
According to a Nikkei report, based on Famitsu's latest weekly sales chart in Japan, Nintendo Switch sold more than 380,000 units in the country during June. This figure is not only a 68% increase from June 2022 sales, but also the highest number of units ever sold in the month of June in the Japanese market.
The Switch's lifetime sales in Japan currently stand at just under 29.8 million, and June's impressive sales should see the console on track to hit the 30 million mark in the coming weeks.
To date, the Switch remains the third best-selling gaming platform in Japan, behind the Nintendo DS in first place with over 32.9 million units sold, as well as the Game Boy and Game Boy Color in second place with lifetime sales of over 32.4 million units.
As of March 31, the Switch had sold more than 125 million units worldwide. At the time, Nintendo said it expected sales to decline over the next year, while reports suggested that development on the Switch's successor was progressing well.
