Many passionate and profound opinions affirm the role of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army

On September 7, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh assigned comrade Hoang Van Thai to organize the military staff agency, clarify the core issues, and orient the construction and development of the Military Central Command and the entire military staff system.

He affirmed: The Central Military Commission is the secret military agency of the organization, an important agency of the Army, with the following tasks: To organize and train the army well, to organize a clear understanding of the enemy and ourselves; to devise clever strategies; to organize a smooth, secret, quick, timely, and accurate command to defeat all enemies and protect the revolution.

President Ho Chi Minh's advice, though brief, contained strategic thinking, clearly demonstrating his foresight, political and military acumen in building the armed forces, especially the staff.

Following his teachings, over the past 80 years, generations of cadres and soldiers of the Military Command have made constant efforts and excellently fulfilled their strategic command and staff tasks. During the resistance war against French colonialism and American imperialism, the Military Command thoroughly grasped the Party's revolutionary line, creatively applied Ho Chi Minh's military ideology, advised the Politburo, the Central Military Commission, and the General Command to set out strategic lines, lead and direct our army and people to defeat the colonialists and imperialists; at the same time, protected the Fatherland's borders and fulfilled international duties.

Currently, the General Staff regularly monitors and accurately forecasts the situation, especially on the border, sea, islands, and key areas, promptly advises and effectively handles military and defense situations, avoiding passivity and surprise; effectively develops and implements strategies, projects, and legal systems on military and defense; directs training and combat readiness of the entire army. At the same time, advises and directly directs the building of a lean, compact, and strong Army; improves the quality of education and training at military schools; directs the building of a strong and widespread militia and self-defense force; strictly maintains combat readiness at all levels; organizes the mobilization of forces and means to participate in natural disaster prevention and control, search and rescue; implements defense diplomacy activities, international cooperation, etc.

The national resistance war broke out (December 1946), President Ho Chi Minh and the Party Central Committee and the Government left Hanoi to move to the Viet Bac base. After transporting technical facilities and warehouses to the base, the requirement for the Central Military Commission was to build a strong Viet Bac base in all aspects, to serve as a long-term base for the resistance headquarters and to do staff work, direct and operate the construction of main force, local forces and guerrillas; command operations on battlefields nationwide, carry out the tasks assigned by the Ministry of National Defense, and contribute to bringing our people's resistance war against French colonialism to victory.

With special affection for the ethnic people of Thai Nguyen province, which has sheltered and helped cadres, employees and soldiers of the BTTM to successfully complete their tasks in the resistance war against French colonialism, as well as creating all favorable conditions for agencies and units to successfully complete their tasks in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, in recent years, the BTTM has actively worked with Thai Nguyen province to carry out many practical activities, such as: Restoring historical relics in Dinh Hoa Safe Zone; supporting the construction of comrades' houses; building roads; organizing activities of marching to the source, visiting martyrs' cemeteries on holidays and Tet; donating medical equipment, examining, consulting, treating, providing and distributing free medicine to people with meritorious services to the revolution, people in the area...

These are activities of special significance, aiming to propagate and educate cadres, employees, soldiers and workers to clearly understand the honor and pride in the glorious tradition of the Military Command, as well as to further enhance the glorious tradition of the heroic Vietnam People's Army. At the same time, it demonstrates the affection, responsibility, care, encouragement and deep gratitude of the Standing Party Committee and the Head of the Military Command towards the Party Committee, government and ethnic people of Thai Nguyen province.
