Compared to May 2023, it increased sharply by 40.9% in volume, but down 4.8% in turnover and down 32.4% in price.
In the first 5 months of 2024, the country's imported wheat volume reached over 2.83 million tons, equivalent to over 779.53 million USD, an increase of 39.3% in volume and 3.6% in value compared to the first 5 months of 2023, with an average price of 275.3 USD/ton, down 25.6%.

In May 2024, wheat imports from the main market Brazil decreased by 42.8% in volume and 42.5% in value compared to April 2024, but the price increased by 0.5%, reaching 183,373 tons, equivalent to 45.19 million USD, at 246.4 USD/ton; while in May 2023, there were no imports from this market.
In the first 5 months of 2024, wheat imports from the Brazilian market accounted for 39.9% of the total volume and 36.2% of the total wheat import turnover of the whole country, reaching over 1.13 million tons, equivalent to 282.27 million USD, with an average price of 249.8 USD/ton, an increase of 332% in volume, an increase of 194.6% in turnover but a decrease of 31.8% in price compared to the first 5 months of 2023.
Behind the main market Brazil is the Australian market, accounting for 18.7% of the total volume and 21.4% of the total turnover, reaching 529,214 tons, equivalent to 166.64 million USD, with an average price of 314.9 USD/ton, down 62% in volume, down 67% in turnover and down 13% in price compared to the first 5 months of 2023.
Next is the Ukrainian market with 436,451 tons, equivalent to 112.43 million USD, price 257.6 USD/ton, accounting for 15.4% of the total volume and 14.4% of the total wheat import turnover of the country.
Wheat imports from the US market reached 222,982 tons, equivalent to 73.69 million USD, priced at 330.5 USD/ton, up 52% in volume, up 21% in value but down 20.4% in price compared to the first 5 months of 2023.
