Nha Trang City has requested relevant units to review all tourism service business activities on the beach east of Tran Phu Street.
Initially, the city requires tourism service businesses on the beach to ensure that they post notice boards in their business areas, list service prices, and display them in multiple languages.
This is a move made by Nha Trang authorities after information about illegal solicitation and charging of fees from tourists at the city’s public beaches. Many tourists reported that these services do not have listed prices.
Many tourists have reported that the float rental service in Nha Trang does not clearly list prices.
According to Nha Trang City Police, Khanh Hoa Province, the incident occurred at around 7 p.m. on December 29 at the beach in Loc Tho Ward when a group of about 5 Chinese tourists were sitting on 3 chairs in this area.
About 15 minutes later, when the group of guests were about to leave, Phan Ngoc Hai (born in 1998; residing in Dien Tan commune, Dien Khanh district) came and demanded 200,000 VND for “seat rental service”. The group of guests refused to pay and left.
Hai said he worked for Mr. Tran Thien Thao (born in 1975; residing in Vinh Thanh commune, Nha Trang city) to open a service to rent floats, umbrellas, and lounge chairs. Mr. Thao rented this area from Sailing Club Nha Trang Restaurant.
Tourists are charged for services.
The Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa Tourism Association sent a document to the Nha Trang City People’s Committee, reflecting that recently there was an incident where tourists were being followed by some people while walking along the beach on Tran Phu Street to collect money. According to the Association, the behavior of the above group of people showed signs of violating the law, causing insecurity and safety for international tourists, negatively affecting local tourism.
