The fisherman who just caught a good haul of fish is Mr. Phan Minh Phuong, residing in Bau Bang village, Duc Trach commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province.

According to Mr. Phuong, on the morning of February 19, he sailed his boat to the sea near the shore to pull the net from noon the day before and was happy to discover that many fish were caught in the net. The total number of fish in the net that Mr. Phuong pulled this time was about 100, with a total weight of nearly 300kg.

"Because there were so many fish, I had to pull the net and the fish to shore, mobilize relatives and ask neighbors to help me remove the fish from the net. I am very excited to have such a big catch at the beginning of the year," said fisherman Phuong.

Hearing that Mr. Phuong's boat had caught fish, people and traders came to buy the fish as soon as the boat reached the shore. The fish has a long, flat body, large bones, thick skin with a characteristic yellow and silver color, and thick, white, firm and delicious meat.

With the selling price of fish at 100,000 VND/kg, in just one trip to the sea, fisherman Phan Minh Phuong earned nearly 30 million VND. Besides Mr. Phuong, on February 19, another fisherman, Mr. Le Van Ha, residing in Duc Trach commune, also caught nearly 50 fish in rafts.

In Quang Binh, in recent days, many fishing boats and ships of fishermen have also had successful fishing. Especially in the coastal areas, fishermen have had a big catch of herring.

Every day, fishing boats of coastal communes in Quang Binh go out to sea twice, early morning and late afternoon, each trip takes 4-5 hours, and can catch hundreds of tons of herring.

With a price of 15,000-20,000 VND/kg, the "sea fortune" at the beginning of the year brings in millions of VND in income each day for fishermen.
