EU member states and Arab monarchies have long cooperated closely. The EU was founded in the 1950s and the GCC in the early 1980s. Yet it is only now that the two sides have established this framework for high-level bilateral meetings and dialogue. Although late, this is an important historical milestone for both sides.

The fact that the event was re-organized was the only notable success of the event. The two sides met in Brussels (Belgium), the headquarters of the EU. Members of both sides spoke highly of each other, affirming their readiness to cooperate with each other in the fields of trade, energy or responding to climate change. However, the differences in views on world political issues and the conflict of fundamental interests in many issues were not resolved. Therefore, it can be said that this high-level meeting between the EU and the GCC created a reputation for both sides but cannot be considered a success.

Typical and characteristic examples of the disagreement between the two sides are the Ukraine conflict and the Middle East conflict. The two sides do not have a common voice so they cannot coordinate their actions. Ukraine is too far away from the GCC and the Middle East is not as close to the EU as it is to the GCC.

However, what cannot be denied in this historic event for the EU and the GCC is that both sides are aiming for great potential that both sides can benefit from if they jointly exploit it to serve the interests of each side. The prospect of success after becoming famous is not absent.
