Mr. Danny Le, CEO of Masan Group, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Masan High-Tech Materials, delivered the opening speech of the Congress. |
2024 is a challenging year for the business community as the world faces geopolitical fluctuations, global economic instability, supply chain fluctuations, reduced consumer demand, and unusual natural disasters. In this context, MHT has chosen a strategy focusing on core values - strengthening internal strength, optimizing production, controlling costs, and improving operational efficiency.
This strategic change has quickly brought positive results: Revenue in 2024 reached VND 14,336 billion (equivalent to USD 641 million), up 2% compared to 2023. Of which, the copper product business contributed VND 1,442 billion, up nearly VND 400 billion thanks to strong domestic consumption demand. EBITDA profit reached VND 1,785 billion, up 15%, reflecting efforts to effectively control costs and optimize operations at manufacturing plants.
Portfolio restructuring - Focusing on core business
2024 also marks an important step in financial consolidation when MHT completes the transfer of all shares in HC Starck Holding GmbH to Mitsubishi Materials Corporation for a total value of 134.5 million USD. This deal brings the Company a one-time profit of nearly 1,000 billion VND in the fourth quarter of 2024, helping the Company restructure its investment portfolio, focusing all its efforts on core activities - mining and refining high-margin metals in Vietnam.

Along with that, the Company also promotes the application of new technology to more than 100,000 tons of sulphide concentrate in stock, through precious metal extraction technology, opening up new sources of revenue with reasonable investment costs. The Company's product portfolio is also increasingly diverse and specialized, from high-purity APT, Bismuth 4N (99.99%), Ammonium Metatungstate (AMT) to Molybdenum recovered from waste - new advanced products, serving the global high-tech and renewable energy supply chain.
Technology, Innovation and ESG: Keys to Sustainable Development
In 2024, Masan Tungsten Deep Processing Plant (MTC) continues to be recognized by the Ministry of Science and Technology as a "High-Tech Enterprise" for the period 2025-2029 thanks to its outstanding achievements in advanced extraction technology and high-purity Tungsten products, meeting international standards.

Along with production and business activities, MHT continues to implement ESG initiatives and strongly deploy community support programs. In 2024, the Company launched energy-saving initiatives to save over 8,000 GJ of energy, maintain a 76% rate of recycled water, and cover 64 hectares of land with greenery and restore after exploitation.
Community programs have also been effectively implemented. With 3.3 billion VND invested in infrastructure construction projects, social security, education support and agricultural extension, along with a loan program to create sustainable livelihoods, the Company provides practical support to more than 3,500 local people. Notably, the Company continues to be the Vietnamese enterprise with the highest contribution to the State budget in Thai Nguyen province - with 860 billion VND in 2024, affirming its role as a responsible - sustainable - community-oriented enterprise.
Strengthening internal strength - Focusing on core - Seizing opportunities
The global mineral market is entering a period of reshaping as China tightens its export of key minerals such as tungsten, bismuth and fluorspar. This move is prompting countries to seek stable and reliable alternative supplies outside of China. Masan High-Tech Materials has the opportunity to become a strategic partner of corporations and industries worldwide. In particular, after the US announced its reciprocal tax policy in April 2025, MHT's entire export portfolio - including Tungsten Oxide, Bismuth and Acidspar - will not be subject to tax, giving the Company a significant competitive advantage in key markets.
“From 2024, we will focus on optimizing operations and strengthening financial discipline to ensure stable profit margins. In 2025, the Company will synchronously implement key initiatives, from expanding exploitation, optimizing resources, to promoting innovation, to build long- term competitiveness and create sustainable value for all stakeholders,” said Mr. Ashley McAleese, CEO of MHT.
In the context of a constantly changing world, the global supply chain is strongly restructuring, MHT chooses to focus resources on the core business area - mining and processing strategic minerals. This is the Company's strategic step towards optimizing profits, building a foundation for sustainable development, creating momentum to conquer great opportunities in the future.
