Impersonating the Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee, a subject in Bac Giang province defrauded and appropriated nearly 10 billion VND from people and businesses.

On August 27, Bac Giang Provincial Police informed that through the work of grasping the situation, the unit discovered a number of suspects with the behavior of "Fraudulent appropriation of property" in the form of impersonating state officials to "apply for jobs", "run projects"... so they set up a special project to fight.

On August 15 and 16, the task force executed an emergency detention order against two subjects, including: Mac Dang Thanh (born in 1992, residing in Xuan Huong commune, Lang Giang district, Bac Giang province) for the acts of "Fraudulent appropriation of property" and "Forgery of seals and documents of agencies and organizations" and Nguyen Thi Thanh Hieu (born in 1968, residing in Kham Thien ward, Dong Da district, Hanoi) for the acts of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".

The Investigation Police Agency of Bac Giang Provincial Police searched the workplace of Mac Dang Thanh.

At the same time, the police agency mobilized two subjects residing in Hanoi to surrender for the act of "Fraudulent appropriation of property", including: Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy (born in 1973) and Le Quy Thanh (born in 1968).

Initial investigation results determined that from 2020 to present, Mac Dang Thanh has impersonated an officer of the General Department of the Ministry of National Defense and the Inspectorate of the Ministry of National Defense and then transferred to the position of Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee; at the same time, he also impersonated the Deputy Director of Huy Hoang Trading and Service Company Limited (headquartered in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province) to defraud and appropriate nearly 10 billion VND from a number of companies and individuals in the form of "job hunting", "project hunting", "case hunting"...

During the search, the authorities seized many exhibits, including a number of round stamps of companies and businesses, various title stamps, blue car license plates, and military certificates that were determined to be fake; 1 set of lights for priority vehicles; 2 Fortuner brand cars...

Bac Giang Provincial Police have prosecuted Mac Dang Thanh for “Fraudulent appropriation of property” and “Forgery of seals and documents of agencies and organizations”. Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy, Le Quy Thanh and Nguyen Thi Thanh Hieu were prosecuted for “Fraudulent appropriation of property”.
