Singer Manh Quynh was born in 1971, is an American of Vietnamese origin. He began singing duets with Phi Nhung in the late 90s, becoming a singing duo that left an impression on audiences who love lyrical and folk music with many songs such as: Xa nguoi yeu, Thanh pho buon, Tan co giao duyen, Du anh ngheo, Sau tim thiep hong...
Manh Quynh reunited with Hanoi audiences on the evening of October 20, at the National Convention Center (Photo: Facebook character).
The male singer shared that he will soon return to Vietnam to participate in the program Lover 3 taking place on the evening of October 20 in Hanoi, sharing the stage with Trinh Nam Son, Thanh Ha, Bang Kieu, Le Quyen and Minh Tuyet.
Singer Du Anh Ngheo revealed: "Of all the singers participating in the program, except for Trinh Nam Son, I have never performed a duet. The rest of the singers, I have performed a duet at least once in shows. In this program, I also have a duet."
When asked: "Recently, you were opposed by anti-fans (boycotters) when you sang a duet with another female singer because they wanted you not to sing with anyone other than Phi Nhung. So are you worried when you sing a duet with a female singer on stage in Hanoi?"
Manh Quynh frankly said: "Everyone's love for Phi Nhung and I was so great during the 20 years we were together on stage. When Phi Nhung left, it left an irreplaceable void in the eyes of the audience who loved the duet Manh Quynh - Phi Nhung.
They couldn't accept seeing me sing a duet with another female singer, especially a young female singer. Some even reacted so negatively that it made me angry.
But I still have to do the job I love. I can't let those influences affect my personal life. No matter how I live, I can't please everyone, so I just be myself.
In this program, the Organizing Committee asked me to sing a duet and I will do it without thinking or worrying about anything."
"I feel hurt by the very audiences who once loved my singing," he said sadly (Photo: Bich Phuong).
According to Manh Quynh, he once felt sad and upset when people who loved the duet Manh Quynh - Phi Nhung turned to... hating him. The reason was just because he sang a duet with... someone else. He sadly said: "I felt hurt by the very audience who used to love my singing."
The male singer also shared that, in the face of negative rumors and gossip, it's best "to still be myself".
"I'm still myself because the rumors and gossip are not created by me. They all come from social networks and people who like to fabricate and make up stories to attract attention, gain profit or to satisfy jealousy and envy.
If I were just an innocent music listener, things wouldn't go beyond the art of music. I have to train myself to be a little cold and hard when facing rumors," Manh Quynh said.
