Microsoft revealed that it will replace the blue screen with a new black version to "simplify the restart experience in case of an unexpected event." The change is expected to take place this summer when the company releases the Windows 11 24H2 update.

The company promises the new update will bring an “easier” user experience and “faster” recovery after a reboot.

Microsoft also said the company plans to update the user interface to match the design of Windows 11. This move is also expected to reduce the waiting time during the computer restart process for most users.

"This change is part of our efforts to minimize disruption in the event of an unexpected computer restart," Microsoft wrote.

Most recently, users saw blue screen errors popping up everywhere in July 2024 after a flawed update from CrowdStrike caused computer systems around the world to crash.
